Does anyone have info on Burnett?

He played 6 minutes against ND and then none against NC State and Syracuse. He is averaging 18.6 minutes and 8 points and 3 rebounds, so it's not lack of production. I assume he's injured, but I haven't heard anything. Anyone know? We've played well without him, but we really need his offensive spark.

I don't buy that. He goes from 4th leading scorer on the team, 19 minutes a game, to zero minutes? Makes absolutely no sense.

Yes, but Manu was bad against ND and NC State, 3 total points on 1-7 shooting, and he still got run out there yesterday, and at crunch time too. Palmer and Newton have thrown up goose eggs and have continued to get playing time. It doesn't make sense.

We have an over abundance of 6 foot guards and need Reed's defensive presence. Newton has more potential than Burnett and Palmer is bigger.

Sorry, still not buying that you go from 4th leading scorer to no action at all. He's a natural scorer, more so than any of the players you mentioned.

Not saying you're wrong, but reed is playing shutdown D all over the court(1-4). D's at a premium right now, scoring isn't.

Yeah, it reeks of something from practice or off the court. Guys playing significant minutes never disappear without a good reason. We got any insiders who have heard anything?

He might just be something of a defensive liability, having trouble learning the defense.

He wasn't really scoring well the last few games before he got benched, so there's no reason for him to be on the court.

The team's season stats are posted on the official UM site. I have always felt that one of the more revealing stats is points per shot attempt. Reed's is 1.47 (50 points on 34 attempts), the highest among UM's guards. Burnett's is 1.11 (104 points on 94 attempts), the lowest among the team's guards. Burnett averages a turnover every 22 minutes played (11 in 242 minutes). This is actually not bad, but Reed averages a turnover every 29 minutes (7 in 201 minutes), even better.

What about assists? Burnett only has 7 assists in 242 minutes, or 1 assist every 35 minutes. I realize that he isn't a point guard, but still.... Reed, on the other hand, has 16 assists in 201 minutes, or 1 every 13 minutes. Burnett's assist to turnover ratio is 7/11 = .64, Reed's is 16/7 = 2.29.

I don't want to overemphasize stats. I just wanted to add a few more to the stat of "fourth leading scorer." I like Burnett's potential, but Reed deserves some credit also.

I was surprised we didn't see him yesterday against that zone considering how good of a shooter he is. Reed has more experience and is obviously a better fit with the other star players we have on the court. Trust in coach L

This isn't a Reed vs. Burnett argument. You can play both. Burnett's minutes went from around 20 a game to ZERO. Reed playing is not taking away all of his minutes. There are still minutes out there for Burnett, but for whatever reason, Coach L is not finding time for him.
