Do we even have "bagmen"

if it's getting done right we will never know

Unfortunately that's been our problem - between Uncle Luke and Nevin, our bagmen are looking for the spotlight.

and miami fans are so dumb they want to identify the "bagmen" on the internet

This^^^.Does anyone remember that we are finally finishing up with our sanctions/penalties that could have been far worse and there was even mention of us getting the death penalty at one time? I am amazed that in almost every post there is mention of a "bagman" and us paying players.I truly hope that is not the case or this program will not survive anymore sanctions. For the folks that insist on talking about it and constantly bringing it up I'm not sure what to say about that.We are not in the SEC where we can openly do that and never get caught.Quit talking about it.Geez.

They think it's cool and edgy. We are hopefully on our way back to significance in ncaa football. I would hate for that to get tainted over some random reporter getting the idea from our fans that it is going on. Suddenly their little joke leads to more investigations.

I think it is dumb and ignorant.Wish the whole thread would get deleted.Couldn't agree with you more.

Last time of known Bagman amonsgst the innet city was when we brought in Willie WIlliams...AFter that Ive heard of no known bagmen for the Canes...we did so much to get him in....I think he ruined it for us......

Shapiro was a bagman.

The fact that you don't know of them, means they're doing their jobs the right way.

Shapiro wasn't a bagman. A bagman is the staff intermediary who arranges and delivers benefits from boosters. Shapiro was a **** poor excuse for a booster.

The boosters stay clear of the bagmen. The bagmen are anonymous and not connected to the program.

Shapiro is an example of why boosters shouldn't be bagmen. He was both.

Grow up. Reporters don't need to read a comment by message board idiots to figure out what's going on.

If I ever win the lottery I am buying a beach home in Ft Lauderdale and will become the bag man for the U

They will call me Casper

So true....Shapiro was a fake booster who wanted to be a bagman.....dude was trouble from the jump.....

We do. But it's a little different from other schools. Instead of boosters paying the players directly our funding comes from agents. You ever wondered why every miami hurricane signs with the same agent?

The purpose of the thread was to gauge people's interest on the subject and here opinions. Not to actually identify a "bagman" by way of the Internet. So mission accomplished.

You asked a serious question and deserve an answer. The bigger question is how prevalent paying players or players families as an inducement to go to a school. People I respect on many boards think it's commonplace but for the life of me I can't see it. I'm a risk/reward guy. I'm willing to take some risk if the reward is significant enough. Now let's take one single player. Does one single player represent enough of a reward to take the risk of getting caught and putting your program on probation or worse. Now I know the answer is that "Bagmen" technically have no direct connection to the staff or the college but does that eliminate the risk? What if the player gets upset with the staff or the school and leaves. Isn't there the risk that he goes public or what if the bagman gets upset with the school (Shapiro). Or suppose the kidh takes the high ground goes to another school and blows the whistle on the offending school. I guess where I end up is that something insidious is going on but not so much at the entry level of recruiting. Kids keep showing up with new cars in their sophomore year ect.Now to your question. Miami has a bullseye on its back. I doubt that to the extent that the school has control we have no bagmen.

College Football is a business. Too much money floatin around to not greatly affect kids decision making. You gotta understand the type of background most of these kids are coming from.

Believe it or not, I think our last number one class was the Randy Shannon era with Jacory Harris, Sean Spence and a whole bunch of kids from Northwestern.
