DL David Stone [commits to Okla] ENUFF

If you look at Mario's timeline and what @DMoney and the Miami resources were saying last year was essentially this, and I'm paraphrasing "Cam Ward moved up the rebuilding timeline to successful now because he is a TALENT, so lets take it and run"

With that being said, that means that this year is the year in Mario's timeline that he expects consistent play and this year was the year of his recruited players, culture , etc will pave the way forward.

There is truth to this, when you look at certain position groups, I.e, OL, DL (it's better then one thinks regarding depth), LB (if you look at composite stars on that group alone), DBs (now that he flipped the room), TE (WAS great, just timeline didn't workout, but still good enough to get an ACC ship), WR (still missing a breakout WR1) and QB (discussed as nauseum that the SOP is to pay for proven commodity, i.e., transfer portal qb, and find gems for development).

This is Mario's timeline, so I'm most excited about this season, because he's built this team from the ground up, and the roster is designed now to be a run reliant team with a QB that works well with TE and play action with enough athleticism and a stronger defense (i.e., Saban Bama blueprint)
I mean... year 4 was the old timeline when you had to fully rebuild through HS recruiting and there was no short cut. Now, there's a short cut to do it in 1-2 years via the portal. Mario failing in year 4 would put the nail in the coffin for me.

Caveat that by saying I think he's absolutely on the right path and I don't expect him to fail this year. Year 3 was right where it needed to be. Could have been better in hindsight with what we had but it was acceptable if you asked me year 1 where I hoped we would be in 2024.

I don't disagree that new timelines move stuff up, which is exactly what happened.

I think last year was a good shot in the arm for the program and got players, coaches, fan and outsiders believing in what's going on in Miami is a real thing and they're a threat. The idea of Miami falling on there face or crumbling in pressure situations, is slowly getting dispelled. Now it's just a matter of getting rid of the November boogeyman.

The moves he's made recently at DL have been pretty safe and not totally "shiny toy" moves.

CJ Clark, Marley Cook, Branson Deen, Thomas Gore. Even Simeon Barrow was a high floor / low ceiling type player.

Not saying I'm for or against getting a JAG with experience vs former 5 star with no experience but I don't think Mario strictly targets s*xy targets only.
No…agreed. To take it a step further, this is the one position that he has yet to prove that he can get one of the true gems/beasts. I guess we need to throw LB in there as well

What coach since nil started has taken their team from **** to being a contender every year. I'll wait..

Even with the portal you have to be smart with your picks. Breaking the bank to get a few high profile players is no substitute for depth.

I’m so Blessed that my eyes have seen the greatest games in Canes history that very few people here can say they experienced.

From Friday night games to the days of CHAMPIONSHIP RINGS , I’ve witnessed it ALL and can access these games in my mind mediation at the scene of these games.

I feel for the fans that hunger for the past that they hear old farts like me trying to share HOW WE LIVED in the OB and may never experience because in today GREED it would cost $20,000,000.00 plus per player a year plus incentives to get close to what we had in the days of rings MAYBE .

My oh my what have we done to CFB SAD

There seems to be portal smoke here. Multiple mentions about Stone and the portal on Geo's last podcast and now Stone posts a pic about the day when he was supposed to pick UM and surprised everyone (including his family) by picking the Sooners.

Could be a troll job by Stone, but its an elaborate one if it is.
He can play the troll game idc still waiting for a recruit to break that curse

How do you know you are one of the few? You're making a statement that may not be true. I'm certain there are many people like you that have been to many Canes games that were important in the 80's, 90's. and early 2000's. I'm one of them and I have been to EVERY BIG GAME including ALL five National Championship games, all wide left and wide right FSU games, and every important ND vs Miami games. I'm certain there are many of us here. I will agree with you that College Football and Basketball is now a joke! The prices UM charges for the product they put on the field is criminal.
