DL Briggs coming to JR day, hoping for offer

From 247:

He does admit, however, that there is one school he covets an offer from most.

“LSU would be a school I’d love to get an offer from,” Briggs said. “I have been a fan of them ever since I was little. That is a dream school for me.”

So much for him having UM as his "Dream". This kid seems like he is an offer *****.

OMG a kid wants offers!! News at 11

The kid called UM his Dream in this article then turns around and says his dream school is LSU. That doesn't exactly come off as being genuine. It sounds like whatever school offers him at the moment is his "Dream". Hard to take a kid like this seriously.

Truth be told, most kids are... Even the ones who like Miami & end up signing with us.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, some kids just like the idea of being heavily recruited & highly coveted.

This happens every year. the reporters ask the same generic questions and the recruitsgive back generic answers.

I agree most kids want to be heavily recruited & highly coveted but saying you want this offer or that offer is different than saying that an offer from a certain school is the one he covets the MOST and that it is his dream school he watched and routed for growing up. This kid made it clear he has a definite idea where he wants to go and is waiting for the opportunity. Miami seems to be a place holder or his second choice at best.

Pete's article made it seems like Miami was the that offer that he coveted the most (which is his best offer to date), until he got it. Now we are second place after LSU. In the 247 article, Miami rolled out the red carpet for this kid when giving him his offer and even let him know that he was a perfect fit for their defense for which he says Miami leads for his commitment "right now".

So once or if a "better" offers come along this kid will be gone. This kid is far from the slam dunk that most of us thought he was.

There isn't a hotter offer than Miami right now, especially sorry LSU...... Only possible schools would be Clemson, bama, oh st., because of their program consistency the last few years, we are a top 25 school time to start thinking and acting like it, cuz the coaches certainly are.

Briggs, who possesses additional offers from Florida State, Miami (Fl), Oregon, Kentucky and Louisville among others, has yet to dish out an official list of top schools, but admits the trio of in-state suitors hold the advantage heading into the summer.

"I'm still open, but really, I'm not focusing on them but those three schools (Florida, Miami and Florida State) do have the edge," Briggs said. "I'm definitely open."

Tagged as the nation's 64th-ranked defensive end, Briggs has journeyed up to Florida's campus on multiple occasions in the past, and is now manufacturing the tight-knit relationships needed in order to take everything a step further.

"It's big," Briggs said. "Growing up being a Florida boy and watching all the Florida teams on TV, it's big to be recruited by them. I know the Gators have great academics and always have great athletic programs. I know coach Mac has been there the past three years as well.

"I have a good relationship with (defensive line) coach (Chris) Rumph, and I actually started talking with (defensive coordinator) coach (Randy) Shannon about two months before they offered, so we've been building up that relationship as well.

"I also got to talk with (offensive line) coach Brad Davis two weeks ago. I got to know him and what he's about, and we're starting to build that relationship now."

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound junior does not have any immediate plans to travel up to Gainesville, but dishes out a flurry of visit destinations for once school is out for the summertime.

"I'm not in any rush to get up there right now because I've already been there twice," Briggs said of Florida. "I'm trying to get up to NC State, Ohio State, Indiana and Tennessee. "Florida is definitely going to be later in the summer."

Briggs is going back and forth in regards to his decision timeline, but hopes to reveal his decision at some point during the 2017 season.

Uhh they do

He and Oladele are similar, personally I'd give the edge to Oladele

Both are SDE types...I'd say Briggs is 70/30 to grown into DT, and Oladele is 50/50. Big frames that are going to add a lot of weight.
