You don’t often get elite DBs like downs in the portal but there are definitely usually a few guys that are good that enter. And a lot of times with the portal you have to take chances on guys. A lot of guys have blown up once they went to other schools but wasn’t highly regarded in the portal

I truly thought pickett would be here at Miami and end up here. I have to admit I’m not sure now. But no matter if he’s a corner or safety he’s a tall playmaking DB that can move around. And most of all he can help. I just don’t see Brown or Hanks here. The UF pull might be too much but Mario is a savage. Pickett and Stubbs would immediately help the secondary next year and so will Antoine. Miami will need to hit the portal no matter what. And even though people keep saying theirs never game changing DBs in the portal there will be kids who are better than Hill. Cam Ward doesn’t have eligibility left. You HAVE to stack talent around the QBs we have.

Losing Brown for this long has really hurt!

There were multiple proven DBs. Jermod McCoy from Oregon State has been one of Tennessee’s best defensive players. Ole miss got Trey Amos from bama. Oregon got Muhammad from UW. Plenty more. I think our staff felt the secondary was good enough so they didn’t focus on the portal.

Also people showing clips of BK yelling at a player so what big deal. Coaches yell at players that’s normal, recruits don’t care if someone screams. It’s about a relationship that’s strong between him and Corey. He doesn’t give af who the HC is, it’s that relationship that’s winning out right now. It can change but doesn’t seem likely for now

Yeah dude either the kid wants to be here or not. You wanna get the best players! Always!! But Antione and Stubbs should impact this group. You have kids that should improve, OJ should, and you add in 2-3 portal kids and hope you fixed it. Backer could finish strong and also has guys back. Edge with Scroggins and I’ll include Wiley in there cause at 6-4 he can play off the edge inside and out would be a nice combo. I’m with you though

This is the case where the good is the enemy of the great. D$ said they were after a top flight nickel and didn’t get him. But we not only needed one of those, we needed another safety and another CB. Even Guidry admitted they weren’t deep enough in the secondary. They should have taken best available. Memnon had a whole thread of them in the transfer portal board.

There was also our old friend Marcus Harris, who ended up at Cal. I think he’s a decent defender. Not elite but we could have lived without elite. And Nyland Green ended up at Purdue. And I’m excluding all the DBs that ended up at TAMU or other schools that would win in a bidding war. So portal was loaded with DBs. Of all the years to make the excuse that good DBs aren’t in the portal, this isn’t the year.

If he comes, great. I just don’t think it’s a huge miss if he doesn’t. I think Hanks is a better CB and I haven’t seen this kid at Safety. Honestly think WR would his best spot. What I’m saying is if Hanks, Antoine, and Arnoux equals out to a total NIL similar to Pickett, 3>1. Don’t know the case here, just seems to make sense.

He very well could have took that bag and still came to the game, and did his best not to be seen/interview so LSU didn’t know.
