DJ Johnson

Jordan and Mallory will both play. A lot of our ‘18 class will be playing next year. George will be playing. Lingard. Pope. Hightower. Silvera. Most of the dbs.

The guys I see redshirting are probably one of the WRs, 2 of the dbs (depending on how many we sign) cam Davis, we probably don’t need oline help next year, a qb will redshirt.
So, IMO, more than 50% of ‘18 will play.

Look at how guys are developing. We’re stacked at d end. But look at our young d ends. Joe Jackson is looking like he could leave after ‘18. Garvin is playing like he’ll be here only 3 years. Djax is a Sr next year. You better be constantly playing and rotating your elite freshmen in b/c you don’t know when an injury will occur and when a guy will blow up and declare during his J.R. year.

Redshirt? Lolol. Cmon man. Do u even follow along at all?

Of course DJ is not RSing....but he could have.

RS will soon become common in our program. WE WANT THAT. As we stockpile quality State Of Miami talent, there will not be a need for most freshman to play. WE WANT THAT! Only the most elite will play early and not RS. Some Posters will be butt hurt next year because their favorite freshman are not playing a lot. THAT IS A GOOD THING. That means the vets said, "you cant have my job, freshman." In fact, I am pleased that Delaney is not starting. Not because I do not like him, but because it means program players have stepped up. WE WANT THAT.

To be honest, I only expect a few 2018 recruits to make an impact in 2018. Pope, Scaife (Possible Day 1 Starter) and Nesta are a few of them. If Walton comes back, Lingard and Davis are looking at Special Teams roles or RS. WE WANT THAT!

Lingard ain't redshirting...

Next year the U will have the fastest RB corp in the nation

Speed kills !

The bowl practices and spring will be huge for him and Ford. They are going to be relied on a lot next year but they need to develop some real technique.

I don’t expect deejay to stay at rb full time. I expect to see him some hybrid role. Wildcat, rb, wr, used in a bunch of ways by richt. But, I’m not sure he just stays at rb. Walton isn’t coming back, but, if he did, you still better have 3 rbs playing. I don’t think Walton comes back and I think deejay plays all over the field and think lingard gets meaningful time as the number 2 back.

If homer stays healthy and blows up next year with a 1200 yard season, he’s probably gone. That would leave thin with just lingard and Davis and burns and incoming freshmen.
So, to the point, no, redshirting most of the class will kit become a thing again like the 80’s. Kids are enrolling early and getting a jump, kids are more advanced today with training and more ready at most positions (save d tackle and oline).

I saw him in there late in the game chasing down a running play that was going away from him. **** man he is fast.

He is big and fast, but there's more to the position than that. Garvin definitely ahead of him skill-wise. I trust he'll be ready next year. Joe Jack, Garvin, DJ, and D Jack should be a fantastic dE rotation.

DJ still has that baby face/body which is not a bad thing. Our Dline is one of the best in the country with loads of experience so him not playing isn't a reflect on him, its a reflect on how good the line is already. I think the off season strength/conditioning/nutrition is going to do him wonders.

He might be staying at rb. Richt said he probably should have moved him there back in the spring.

He wasn't an EE like Garvin, DJ Johnson is just as much of a freak but Garvin has had more time to get comfortable to the college game. I would actually like to see him on kickoff knocking heads, he's fast enough.

DJ is not on Garvin's level...EE or not. Give him time. He needs a lot of work.

Garvin got here and was taught by the master (Coach Kool) from January to August. DJ just got here in June-July.

Give him time

Isn't that what I said?

I think richt meant that b/c we were thin behind Walton and homer and he should have got him more experience. I don’t disagree that he’ll be listed as a “rb” but I think he’s gonna be moved all over the field b/c the kid is obviously talented and richt will create mismatches. Just not sure I see him as true rb like homer or lingard and just take 20 runs a game. Use him everywhere. He’s gonna blow up next year after another offseason.

DJ is RB.

Dallas running style kind of reminds me of Jason Geathers. He was a smooth runner but Dallas is more compact and takes hits better.

Buck, which few kids do you expect to play, since u think it will only be a few?
And unless scaife is another Donaldson, he’s getting a redshirt. Not a day 1 starter. He isn’t starting over gaynor and the other guys who redshirted. Give him a year and let’s see.

Beta move talking about redshirt. Every star wants to shine only cheerleaders hug the sidelines and enjoy it.

Also, prior to ‘92 you had 95 scholarship and now it’s at 85. So the loss of 10 scholarships has obviously created some areas where you need to rely on true freshmen at certain positions. Can’t redshirt them like you used to.

Deejay is a rb I’m just saying I believe richt will use him all over the field b/c he’s so versatile. Depending on how he develops this offseason, I’m not sure he’s a straight rb who is going to carry the load.

Love threads like this. Speculation, choices, where to fit talented players including possibly four or five super elite freshman cornerbacks. My favorite speculation is Patchen. I still think he can blow up at DE and will stay for his senior year. I'm pulling for him big time.

Why? Stars? DeeJay did what he did against ND.....not an over-matched High School team from Volusia County. ****, Davis faces better competition.

I want patchan back at d end and think he can be a major contributor. He stays his senior year.

Buck, you claimed only a few will play next year. You’re way off as over half the class will play next year. I want to hear your explanation.
