Auburn, Tennessee, & the most/the rest of the SEC plays 8 games at home & 4 on the road this season. This hasn't been uncommon throughout college football, yet we split our games between home and road almost if not every season as far back as I can remember. I realize this is the difference between playing two more Ball States at home as opposed to going on the road and whooping UF & USF on the road...definitely not what I'd rather see.
The difference now is the fact that NIL plays a big role in making and keeping teams competitive, and when teams like Tennessee will now start alotting a percentage of ticket sales towards their NIL collective, teams that play more home games will have a significant financial advantage. 2 more home games at Neyland - 100k seats x 10% of $50/seat avg = $1 million additional into their collective than teams like us. I realize we have other sources of funding, but this is an uneven playing field.
Is it time for conferences to agree on an equal number of home and away games? If not, how long until we start scheduling only home OCC games & throw some more $ in the pie?
