So I decided to make one thread for the multiple transfer thread that will ultimately pop up just to save the from clutter.

I’ll start off by saying my opinion on what is needed.

QB: One of KJ Costello, Anthony Brown, and Jett Duffey need to be added here. It’s painful to add Feleipe Franks but even he would be a plug and play starter here as well. Really hard pressed here because we’re behind the 8 ball and already missed out on Jake Bentley who probably would’ve been the best fit. I would say Jaime Newman but he’s going to a place to bolster his draft stock, not a place like Miami with a new OC. Maybe a FCS name who’s trying to get notoriety will pop up but I haven’t heard of anything like that.

WR: We need to add 2 big bodied guys. I personally would love to add Tarik Black and Dee Anderson from LSU to the room. I wouldn’t really be thrilled about Justin Shorter because he has drop issues and wouldn’t be upset about Scott Bracey and Aaron Young from Duke but I believe Black and Anderson have the most upside of the bunch. I would say give a look to Jordan Jones out of Arkansas a look but idk if he’ll be eligible immediately.

OT: We need to hit here hard. I would personally add Henry Hattis and move him inside and I would add TJ Storment as a RT. I’m willing to let Zion start the year at LT being that he shouldn’t have been a starter there in the first place. He should’ve been a redshirt BUT he’s really athletic and has fixable technique issues. Devery Hamilton to me needs to be a backup plan because he’s never been a starter at one spot and has always moved around. Another name that’s interesting is Zach Robertson from ASU but he missed a lot of last season.

DE: This should be a luxury, not a necessity. Adding Quincy Roche though is a no brainer and IF he wants to come here he’s a plug and play starter who probably gives us one of the deepest DE rooms in the country.

LB: We need to add 1 because of how inexperienced we are here. I would go after Tyree Thompson from UCLA and he’ll should immediately be a top 3 Back here. That’s really it for LB. Not much to choose from

CB: We need at least 1 here But I would go with 2. Obi Eboh is a immediate top 3 guy and would probably start opposite Al. I would then go for Greg Ross to round it out there.

K: Borregales or bust. Simple as that

Just posted this on another thread. Appropriate here as well imo:

Safety room:

Gilbert Frierson-RS SO
Keontra Smith-RS FR
Amari Carter-SR
Bubba Bolden-RS JR
Gurvan Hall-JR
Jalen Harrel-FR
K Washington-FR
Brian Balom-FR

Can get all the vitrol against Rumph, who I really like as a teacher, for his recruiting. But overall Banda has recruited a steady stream of 4 Star caliber guys and just about every highly rated guy he's had under him has turned into a good player.

Think the constant calling for his head, and the reasons behind it, are getting to be a little over the top.

Imo he hasn't been spectacular on the trail, but solid. Spacing of classes are good as are the numbers. And the guys he's coaching on the field have developed nicely.

Jmo.

Need at least 1 coverage LB for pass downs. It was never a strength for McCloud and Brooks will never be proficient at it. Huff has the traits for it but we haven't heard anything about his progress. Frierson can fill in when needed.

The idea that we have to have 3-down LBs that never leave the field is utter nonsense. The 2019 3rd down status quo is not acceptable on either side of the ball.

Then we should pursue Jamel Cook and tell him to bulk up to 220.

(1) QB - of the starting variety.
(1 or 2) WR - depends on how much you want to get from the freshman.
(1 or 2) OT - I expect the line to be shuffled regardless. Right now, I think you can project three starters. Scaife, Gaynor, Rivers. Figure out the rest.
(1) OG - Probably the easiest plug and play to find if you're really looking.
(1) DL - doesn't matter where, its just veteran depth to add snaps...the better you get, great. If its just a role player, fine, too.
(1) CB - Not getting greedy here. I'd rather get freshmen, to be honest.

KJ graduate in May.
Anthony Brown knees are shot.
Jett Duffey supposedly has character issues.
Franks is getting suggestion from Mullen so who knows.

Gilbert Frierson-RS SO - JAG
Keontra Smith-RS FR - Hasn't played enough to tell
Amari Carter-SR - JAG
Bubba Bolden-RS JR - Looked solid in limited action this year
Gurvan Hall-JR - OK this year with some terrible moments
Jalen Harrel-FR - Hasn't gotten here, but solid in high school
K Washington-FR - Total project who will probably never play meaningful snaps
Brian Balom-FR - Wouldn't have been recruited if not for lack of depth in the secondary

That's not a very good recruiting record.

Out of the QB's I'd get Jett Duffey, he ran a similar offense & has good mobility.

Costello has cinder blocks on his feet & is an absolute statue in the pocket, he ran nothing anywhere close to the Spread offense at Stanford, it's about as Bro style as can be.

There's another kid Anthony Mo Hasan who's a Grad Transfer from Vandy, he's originally from Miami & went to HS in Dillard, but he's hardly ever played in college, wouldn't make sense to bring him in when he's just as unproven as the QB's we already got.

Could definitely use a WR, agree on Dee Anderson from LSU, although whenever we take a LSU transfer they never work out for us lol. Would take one of Jordan Jones from Arkansas, Brennon Dingle from UMass, Kobay White from BC, or Theo Howard from UCLA.

Need to take as many OL's as we can find, whoever can play LT bring him in.

Would take Jonathan Jones from Notre Dame as a Grad Transfer LB, he's an Oak Ridge Orlando kid but he's never really played. Would take Ashtan Pierre too but he's not immediately eligible.

There's some solid CB's in the portal but none that are Grad Transfers, which is why it was imperative for us to land a JUCO CB in this class, but of course our CB recruiting is always behind lol.
I dont know City, DUffey do you see his win loss record? 2 years and dude barely won any games Costello can throw , Buechele didnt run either at SMU and they did fine with him

Duffey's character concerns are being blown out of proportion. As a 5th yr player he will definitely be on his best behavior because he realizes this is his last rodeo. He could do very very well in this Offense and throw for 3500+ yds.

I don’t want any QB who has a suspension on his record. We’ve seen enough of that between Weldon, Kosi and Jarren.

I think everybody is getting too caught up with Costello playing in a pro system. He was a 60% - 65% QB in that system. Imagine him in a spread? The spread is far from complicated and a guy of that arm talent will light it up.
