Diaz updates injuries, expects Lingard and Finley to play vs. CMU

I wouldn't even risk aggravating the ankle, I'd hold Pope out, plus the bye week after CMU so he's 100 % from Va Tech onwards. I think even if worst case Silvera and Joyner are back for Uva game that'll be great.

completely agree. no chance i'm playing pope this week

You guys are clueless. If he’s healthy and cleared and able to contribute, he’ll play. Did u guys ever play a sport?
Players don’t want to miss time and WANT to play. If it’s not serious and he can go, he’ll play and have his 2 weeks to recuperate.

It doesn’t suck for Pope because if it’s a game time decision that means the injury isn’t as severe as it could have been. The fact that he possibly is great news rather than the alternative of him being out for weeks
You’re both right. Waiting for Wiggins to break out. Yes his hands have been terrible but even in Richts offense that dude was constantly getting open

Honestly, I wouldn't be against letting Joyner heal completely and allowing him to return against Louisville. This way he'll play 3 games and assuming we go to a bowl game he'll be able to play in that game as well. This would enable him to preserve a medical redshirt. He would sit back continue to learn and get better physically and mentally. He also still gets some reps and momentum heading toward the 2020 season. Win - win situation.

Honestly, i appreciate the play, dedication, foundation and leadership to the program that quarterman and pickney have layed, but i can tell you this much is certain, come next year if you see brooks, joyner and huff out their, our linebacker play will be much improved, those 3 are heat seeking missles!

am i wrong in thinking that Silvera will really make a big difference on our dline, dudes a tank!

You want to hear the stat of the year thus far, while our run defense has been much improved, because that's what ford helps to bring to the d-line, but how is it that jon doesnt have at least 1 tackle in 3 games, lol!

wait, so if he's healthy and feels fine, he should play? well sh*t, i'm stumped. amazing <canes>insight.

Precisely. You don’t work your butt off all off season just to sit a few games you don’t need to. If he is ready to play, he will play.

Cfdan, I guess your missing the fact my post is in response to those thinking no matter how he feels he should rest up for future games.

Apparently, since others think otherwise, my comments aren’t that obvious. So kill your self

He would prefer to play.
🙄 ok captain obvious. Just like Lingard wanted to play week 0. You don’t play a guy knowing he’s at a high risk of injury. Even minor ankle injuries need more than a week to heal properly. The minor ankle can easily turn into a full break or high sprain. See Mark Walton a couple years ago. ****, I can speak from personal experience.
Bottom line is it’s dumb to play a guy at WR who’s game is based on speed and running crisp routes with a tender ankle unless you need him. We don’t need Pope against CMU.

Players also get hurt when they are "cleared" but not actually 100% ready. We have ACC play starting soon, and there is no need at all to risk further injury against CMU. If it was FSU, I'd understand. CMU, not so much. I get it, he wants to contribute, but if you don't NEED him to, why risk it?

B/c you play hurt, you don’t play injured. If he wants to play AND he’s cleared medically, he’ll play. If he is 75% and the guys behind him are 100%, they’ll play if their 100% is better than pope at 75%.

I agree 💯 with that assessment. I still don’t think Pope has proven he’s better at 75% than the others.
