I am even more proud of the fans who are figuring out where the actual head of the snake lies. The BOT Chair, Vice Chairs, Senior Members, and other idle Trustees. Fans learning the names of millionaires like BOT Chair Hilarie Bass, Vice Chair David Epstein, and Vice Chair William Morrison, and who are starting to cast their aspersions in the right direction.
Yeah, Manny is clearly in over his head and not getting it done. But Manny Diaz was a first-time HC on his way to Temple, who our weak-willed, yes-man of an AD hired after a "nationwide search" that lasted all of 16 hours, and after which both Epstein and James stupidly admitted Manny was the only guy they targeted during the search. It's clear as day Epstein and James were spearheading the Diaz hire, likely with the rest of the BOT power-players' tacit approval. Which is no surprise, considering it was Epstein who was involved in the initial decision to elevate James to interim-AD, and then AD.
Of the individuals on the BOT, it's Epstein who is always front and center whenever football is involved. He was at the press conference with James and Manny when Manny was announced as HC. He was at the press conference with James and Richt when Richt was announced as HC. I vaguely remember him following Shalala's lead and drafting an editorial or open letter chastising the NCAA for the handling of the Shapiro investigation. And like his recent endorsement of Manny, this endorsement of Richt and James after Wisconsin trounced us (again) last year is fairly typical of him: “While we all know this has been a difficult season for UM football,’’ Epstein posted on Twitter, “we have no doubt that you and Coach Mark Richt will have our program once again back to prominence. I stand alongside you both in your continued commitment! #backontopin19.’’
Uncle Puke is generally a giant moron, and a traitor who runs his mouth recklessly, but he spoke no lies four years ago when he said: "The trustees are out of touch with diehard Canes fans. They want to cater to the bourgeois Brickell Avenue and Coral Gables crowds and pretend the U is the Yale of the South. Their main concern is getting their names emblazoned on campus buildings, not being able to compete on the football field with today's major programs like the University of Alabama and Ohio State University." Sadly, this is still the status quo.
