Howard chose the Hurricanes over four other offers including Tennessee, FAU, Temple and USF.
The four-star recruit is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 outside linebacker and the No. 7 prospect in Florida in the 2019 class by 247SportsComposite.
“I love everything about Miami,” Howard said. “I want to stay home. I don’t want to go anywhere I don’t know.”
Howard is the cousin of Hurricanes legend Sean Taylor.
Howard (6-2, 180) plays middle linebacker, cornerback and outside linebacker for Southridge.
Miami is taking him as a linebacker.
The Canes offered August 19.
“I’m going to bring everything to Miami,” Howard said. “I love Miami.”
As a freshman, Howard racked up 22 tackles and three sacks against Homestead, Fla.
Howard is the third verbal commit in the 2019 class for Miami.
