2026 Derrek Cooper 5* RB/ATH from Chaminade

I like Cooper as a RB. But man I love that kid on defense. Seems like he's set at RB though, and could be a good one.

The game i caught against Norland he played both ways..had about 2 sacks and was running sh-t down all over the field.

I think someone gave a comp of Jon Beason before and i would agree.

He is almost in that Jon Beason/Dj Williams wheelhouse as guys who would be solod at rb or lb...the crazy part is Jordan Campbell is almost the same as well.

Give Cooper wwhatever money he wants. Priority recruit. Uga and osu will be back on him as a priority for sure

- '26 five-star RB target Derek Cooper (Chaminade) started in the backfield and made a nice catch down the sideline, beating Mississippi State '25 commit LB Tyler Lockhart (Kilmichael, MS). He reminds me of Seattle Seahawks RB and Broward County product Kenny McIntosh. Not in terms of running style-- McIntosh was shiftier, Cooper is more upright and fast--but in terms of projection. He can be a very good RB or a great defender. If he insists on playing offense, I'd sell him on the Travis Hunter plan.​
 
Locally gotta prioritize Cooper, Russell, J Rock, and Brady. We can go OOS for the majority of other targets and I'm cool with that but having high end skill guys right down the street who aren't legacies to rivals means 0 excuses.

He's got the talent to be a very good college linebacker but he's just top dynamic with ball in his hands to put him on defense. This is the prototype Mario battering ram style running back.

Most schools in the country wanted Derrick Henry at LB, this reminds me of that.
 
Cooper doesn't have any unofficial visits planned as of right now -- although those will be set in the near future -- but seems himself getting back to Athens, Coral Gables and Tallahassee soon.

He does have one official visit already locked in: a trip to Miami for May 30 through June 1.

A late July decision is the expectation for Cooper, he says.

I like the comparison but would add that I believe he is faster

he probably is faster than Beason...DJ williams i dont know.

But yea i like this kids game, frame, and personality/character from seeing him up close.
