Someone who knows his dad used to post here anyone remember who that was

That would be me. Haven’t spoke to him about Jr’s recruitment in depth in awhile. Messaged him before they left for the visit to make sure he was going too, said he would keep me informed. I’ll probably hit him up tomorrow so see how things went.

It's been a strange recruitment for Ft. Myers (Fla.) Dunbar High School DL Derick Hunter.

Back in February, 2017, he was vocal about Miami leading after the Canes offered him at a junior day event. He then committed to Miami in June of that year, declaring himself solid to UM.

Then?

He decommitted late in the year when he felt the Canes were not recruiting him hard. He reportedly committed to Georgia in March, but denied it publicly. Then he was rumored as a Florida State silent commitment before committing there months later in June of this year.

Now?

Coming off an official visit to UM this weekend Hunter told CaneSport he is done with his visits and will announce a final decision and sign on Dec. 19.

Hunter's not offering many clues coming off his time in Coral Gables.

"My mind is made up. I'm just going to let everyone know Dec. 19."

His overall take on the visit?

He says it "went good" and that he bonded well with line coach Jess Simpson.

"He's a good coach for the program," Hunter said.

Did the time at Miami help the Canes' chances with him?

Hunter says he's "got to pray about it."

He was hosted by tight end Brevin Jordan and says it won't be a hard process over the next 10 days.

"Not hard, my mind is made up," Hunter said. "I'm just going to let everyone know Dec. 19."

CaneSport's take

If we're forced to predict today, we think Hunter winds up a Cane. But it doesn't help that Hunter's been all over the place with his recruitment. So even hearing that he might end up here or there can be tricky since he's told various program similar things. At this point we would be surprised if he sticks with his FSU commitment and we see UM or UF as his most likely end point. It'll be a fun ride to Dec. 19.

Regardless of issues, I'd like to get this guy. Hopefully the official helped. Very seldom do recruits come back to the school they originally committed from. Maybe he can be the exception to the rule.
