Denzel Perryman vs Florida

That extra 20lbs of muscle is serving him well - he's standing up blockers now.

Question is - what position does he play in the NFL?

I'm seeing a 3-4/4-3 MLB. Not sure he's a fluid enough athlete to play WLB in a 4-3 (at least not ideally), or big enough to play as a SLB in a 4-3.

Nice.

Not to be greedy, but does someone have a breakdown of the 5 turnovers they "gave" us. Would love to see some isolated footage of those to see the plays and how they developed.

I remember Barrow trying to convince Shannon to take him as a recruit, and Shannon thought he was too small.

Perryman is the type that will continue to improve.

Even before he bulked up alot, he was the type of LB that when he hit someone, they went backwards. Now he's just inflicting pain.

Plus, his stature helps him IMO. Being a little lower to the ground makes it easier for him to put his hat right on the ball. And it gives him leverage. The only way it hurts is when he's in the passing lane and can't bat it down. But in the NFL, the QB's are good enough to thread it through taller LB's anyway.

I'm loving these LB's we got finally. No more little guys getting abused out there. Same with the DL. We aren't quite back to being dominant on D yet, but we're on our way.

So you're saying no more of this....

IMO Denzel Perryman is the perfect WLB for the 4-3 scheme in the NFL.... i think he is definitely "fluid" enough to play the position at a high level, fast and instinctive.

I think he would do great as an NFL 3-4/4-3 MLB or 4-3 OLB.

He is already bigger and stronger then a lot of NFL linebackers.... FREAK.

Agreed.

I mentioned the last time these were posted that the most shocking thing is how well conditioned he was in that game. He has added a lot of weight, and he was in on some serious collisions in that game and plenty of long chase plays. Problems can pop up if athletes aren't being properly monitored while they are putting on weight.

It's pretty clear to me that not only does our staff know how to feed these guys and push them in the weight room, but they know how to do so without sacrificing other areas.

I can't express how important that is going forward.

The D has definitely grown up, but DP is far and away the best LB we've had at taking on blocks in quite some time.

Denzel Scaryman is the best LBs to play at UM since Jonathan Vilma. He has a high football IQ, is great in space, is very difficult to block and is a vicious tackler. He might actually hospitalize an opponent this year. It's too bad that he suffered that high ankle sprain last year as it basically robbed him of a season.

Thought he played real well Saturday while at the game, but watching the replay had no idea how well. Around the ball all game. Tackles weren't 5-10 yards down field, but around the line of scrimmage and more often than not with bad intentions.
