Why can't this program get out of its own way? I mean seriously?

Can I answer that?

It’s because UM is always fighting the last war and has terrible timing. most of the 2000s UM thought it didn’t need to have deep pockets to win. We didn’t need it when we won 5 rings so just needed to find another Jimmy Johnson, Butch Davis or other under the radar coach and we’d be back on top. Took until Mark Richt for UM to pay for an established coach, but it ended up taking a nice man who got fired from UGA because he couldn’t win a championship despite having tons of resources. Right idea , but not the right guy at that stage in his career. Then UM went right back to being cheap. 2021 UM gets called out on national tv and UM brass finally decides it will finally spend on a coach. Thought was “we need an elite recruiter and program builder” , not an Xs and Os guy who can the most out of whatever talent he gets. But it happened to coincide with NIL and free agency. It made being a super recruiter much less important. If you have enough money, you can now buy a top recruiting class and all the transfers you want. So the teams that have the edge now are deep pocketed teams with good Xs and Os coaches, who now can get the best players for their system. The program builders are mostly dinosaurs. We will see SMU vs Clemson put that theory to the test. Now you might have a HC who isn’t a scheme guy, but he can hire elite scheme coaches to make up for it. We have relatively deep pockets but just have one good scheme guy, Dawson. Cristobal is just the wrong coach for the times.

We always point the finger at the wrong guy…This is Mario’s guy, it seems mario speaks to the fanbase thru him. Any slander for him should be directed to Mario

I remember when he first came people said he is one of the few people mario trusts. I have no other idea why he would have an important role, what has he done in his career to get that?

It's all a lie. He's a beast on the trail 💯 he has built amazing relationships with high school coaches in south Florida and if we get rid of him it would do irreparable harm and that's why Mario keeps him around...
They make it so easy with no agenda and unwavering support for the program. Couldn’t imagine where we would be without those imperative South Florida relationships!

**** @Cribby is it that bad with Smith? Is Mario truly that unaware of the damage Smith is causing on the recruiting front something he continues to harp on as the life blood of a program.
All I’m saying is he has way more stroke in side the program than you’d believe. He’s much more than the crazy Twitter hype man. People would really be surprised. Not sure why , maybe Mario just trusts him like that.

I guess the only question that matters is has Mario become aware of the issues with the litte dude? and are they going to be rectified. Missing out on recruits because of him should not be acceptable here.
If the answer is no then it sounds like we are proper fvcked.
I can't believe that he isn't noticing this.

I really don’t get it. Bad look on Mario for having this go on for so long. I don’t get it. Time for Dennis to go

Having one real coaching search in the last two decades has added to the madness.

The issues are known, and have been known for quite some time. Unfortunately, Mario has ignored the issues due to his personal relationship with Smith. Which started back in his FIU days.
