I always wondered how ppl come up with non phonetic spelling of names

Maryland been paying big to keep local talent. They flip top WR from LSU on signing day. He’ll end up at Maryland.
Unless we send Barry up there to close the deal, he’ll for sure get this kid to sign with us.
The staff will make a run alright, but they'll stumble.
Rob - Ert is definitely phonetic....Most people's names aren't spelled phonetically.
I know about a dozen "Roberts," but none of their moms or dads spelled it "Rawburt".

Chris Partridge bringing him in I'm sure.Crystal balls coming in for ole Miss

No, it definitely is not. Technically, the phonetic spelling would be "Rɒbərt," if you are using IPA. Nobody actually writes that way, so I went with a much closer (phonetically) approximation ("Rawburt" or "Raw-burt"). "Robert" is definitely the common way to spell the name, but, phonetically, it's lacking. People confuse "common" spelling with "phonetic" spelling all the time.
