Defense's success gives Brini confidence

This. Not to mention the immediate impact he could bring to the kick return game.

Hendersons recruitment not over. He has indicated there is still strong interest in Miami. Plus he's not committed to anyone. So he still open and we have just as good a chance as anyone. Understand that recruiting is a year-round process.
 
I'm not in the business of turning down DB commits since we have a depth issue there, but I still think Brini should be a Plan B/C option. I just feel like he's a project. I want to say I trust the staff's evals but I just got a feeling about this one..

The University of Oklahoma remains a realistic landing destination for a near handful of four-star prospects hailing out of the state of Florida, with one being Latavious Brini, a Scout 300 cornerback that's roughly 24 hours removed from his official visit weekend in Norman.

The former Georgia commit isn't quite ready to dish out any official leaders in his recruitment, but expect the Sooners to remain in the thick of things until he officially faxes in his letter of intent less than three months from now.

"Oklahoma was great," Brini said. "They were great, like coach Stoops, (defensive backs) coach (Kerry) Cooks and (quality control) coach Chip (Viney). All of the players were great and the game was great.
"They said to go somewhere you feel at home; just to feel at home."

A product of Hialeah Gardens (Fla.) Mater Academy, Brini says he was impressed by the overall fan support and proximity to everything on campus, making the transition that much smoother.

"Norman is a football town, so when there's a game, they shut down the whole town," Brini said. "You see all the people come to the game and the stadium is sold out. That was very exciting.

"Everything is right there on campus. You have the classes, dorms, football facilities, and everything is right there. You don't even have to walk that far."

Brini, who's labeled as the nation's 21st-ranked cornerback and 233rd-ranked player overall, says there hasn't been much beating around the bush when chopping it up with Bob Stoops' staff.

"They told me I can play corner," Brini said. "They're pretty sure I can come in and play early. I speak with coach Chip. Other coaches will tell me what I want to hear, and he tells me what's real."

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior has to finalize some things before coming public, but lists two additional suitors that are likely to roll out the red carpet before crossing over into the New Year.

"I think I'm going to California on Nov. 26, but I'm not sure yet," Brini said. "On Dec. 3, it's West Virginia."

Brini is also traveling up to Georgia on the weekend of Jan. 20.

Brini is 6 foot 3 and growing...... Kid is a natural corner, I've seen him run many times and his size/speed combination is 3yr all-American 1st rd NFL draft elite.... don't be fooled into thinking there are many CB's better than him in the country..... MUST GET!

We need both... This team can't be the only team in the nation that isn't allowed to recruit more than one player at a position.

It doesn't have to be one or the other, it needs to be both of them.

We need Collier, Brini, CJ to comeback & a JUCO CB... We gotta step settling for less.
