DEFENSE ON FIRE - STAT WATCH WEEK 4

4canes, my favorite play of the game was after USF had lost all hope. They reached into their "offensive bag of plays", and pulled out an option play to their right side. We played it perfectly, and hit that **** in the backfield for a 2 yrd. loss.
GT, ur up!

It was almost like our defense practiced defending the option last week even though we were playing USF...

Prostitutes know their place; USF has been ****y as **** over the last few years. It's nice to shut them down with our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stringers. **** em.

As am I.... we are a much better defense... but we had nowhere to go but up........ hoping we keep this up in ACC play

I think the real test for this defense is when we play a balanced offense - to this point we have not.

Florida State will be the real test for this defense as they can hurt you with the run, pass, or Winston with wheels when the play breaks down.

One thing for sure; we got a lot better on D and a lot of higher ranked teams have gotten worse on D, closing the huge gap we had last year.

What was most impressive about this defense against USF imo was the immediate adjustment they made after Shaw broke that 75 yard run, which ended up in a TD, on their 1st drive.

USF went w/ an unbalanced line which allowed their RB to break loose on the outside, but after that drive, the defense made the necessary adjustments which kept Shaw from breaking loose again.

He ended up w/ 119 yards rushing but 75 was on 1 play..... 44 yards the rest of the game.

Lol what? You are right we adjusted well but your stats are off. He ended up with 127 yards with his longest rush being 44 yards.. With his other 83 yards he averaged 4.4 ypc

Lol It's never good enough w/ some ppl.... there is always the real test or the next test blahblahblahyaddayaddyadda on an on and on.... we could beat FSU and ppl are going to say we'll the QB is just a freshman it doesnt count.

Every top teams schedule in the country is filled w/ mostly teams that are "weaker" in most areas then they are..... but of course only Miami has to keep passing "test" in order for ppl to just accept that the offense and defense is legit. smh

u right must've got the numbers i was reading mixed up or something..... regardless most of the 83 yards was made against our 2nd and 3rd string.

Our guys can't line up right. There is too much confusion. They are mishandling players like Tracy Howard. The players hate D'Onofrio! Tracy and Duke are going to leave school. Jethro Franklin sucks *** as a DL corch and can't recruit at all. Fire everyone!

Great point, you watch that run and no one on D moves when the line goes unbalanced, next series they do it and the whole defense shifts.
I'm lovin' this d-line too, getting nice push, disrupting things.

Adjustment is the name of the game, between possessions, between plays and between halves especially. Saban is a master at adjustments. Players also have to be well trained and schooled to understand and execute the adjustments - this type of coaching is showing up on the field now...we must keep doing this, along with counter adjustments. D being upstairs is probably a help as well.
