Problem with your logic here is that if this guy stinks and is a D2 level player then a freshmans will eat his lunch next year anyway. Ask Earl Moore, Corey King and Darius Smith. So you'll have a freshmans eating his minutes and you'll have Hamilton wasting a spot on the roster. When your staring at a class of 0 DT's and plenty of spots to play with, you go t the next best guy and give him an offer. There has to be some semblance of balance in your recruiting or you eventually wind up with Monroe playing WR.
I would like to hear Rumphs assessment on this kid seeing he was his coach. I would that would carry some weight.
We've been doing that for the last 5 years and not one of them has worked out. Briscoe, Ivey, Moore, Wyche. There's no reason to pickup a DT that couldn't contribute for 2-3 years when we can wait one year and pick up a future starter. We're not that desperate at DT this year.
Everything that happened the last 5 years is irrelevant. I'm not even saying take this kid, I just want someone's take that has a reason he's not got any bigger offers. He has all the tools, you can see in the highlights. Maybe he doesn't apply them every play and the only ones he does are on the HL. Idk that's why I'm asking. Someone that actually has any legitimate information.
We NEED a DT in this class or we are going to be playing freshman in a few years. Don't care how highly touted they are, freshman are rarely successful in the trenches in major D1 football
We don't need a DT. We need a Miami caliber DT. Just grabbing refuse in a desperate attempt to balance the roster or fill spots is a proven recipe for disaster.
