From everything currently happening with transfers and buzz of guys aiming at leaving early, can we get a little more information on this guy? He's listed between 6' 2" and 6' 3" and anywhere from 230 to 240? What's most accurate?

He has long arms and a solid frame, but if he's truly (officially measured) closer to 6' 3" 240, he's most likely a DT at the next level after a RS year. If so, he could potentially help us at 3T.

Right now, while I still think it's possible for one of Mcintosh/Norton/Willis to stay, I also concede these kids are out of their minds. Willis, apparently, was thinking about leaving this year. I suppose to be an UDFA. The mere thought of leaving with such little film is madness. My biggest hope is Norton is the one who stays.

All that said, where are the DTs? DJ Johnson may grow into Mcintosh's position. Ideally, DTs are played going into their 3rd years or at least after a full year of experience at the position.

Have we offered him? If not we need to. Kid just committed to TENN, and looked like a beast on film...

Senior Highlights - Deandre Johnson highlights - Hudl

I bet he's closer to 6'3 250-260 right now, and I agree he can grow into a 3 Technique DT

To me, it boils down to this and it's why I'm asking for anything close to official measurements. Was he ever at a camp? What year? Any info on this is helpful because his film is good. He doesn't look 6' 1" on his film. Looks like a bigger kid with a plus wingspan.

I like bethel to kick inside more than johnson. Johnson is too athletic to not have on the edge and bethel is already 260 and could easily be 280 by next fall.

You also have ford commited who is 270-275 and is a 3tech and i think kool is going to get conliffe out of va.

I feel like Kul can create future McIntoshes and Willises with SoFla athletes which is a huge luxury for us as that isn't an easy thing to do. The thing that concerns me is that I don't see any Nortons on the horizon or being mentioned at all. It's harder to "build" one of those guys. We really hit the jackpot with his evaluation/recruitment.

NT is the ugly elephant not being addressed. There's not even one being groomed and/or committed. I suppose Fines technically is, but I suspect he leaves after the year.

Richt has a history of Juco NT's though. I posted his NT recruits in Richt's Recruiting if anyone wants to see his history.

In my mind, Ford is a given to slide inside. I like what Bethel has shown in space, but am open to him sliding to Mcintosh's spot, too. Again, we're still left with a vacancy or two. We also need a bigger, more stout guy. At times, Norton slides and shades the C as a 0 or 1T. It's part of what we do. I don't see a guy on the roster with that size and skill set. And, the incoming guys aren't in that mold, either.

Conliffe would be intriguing. Wonder what the official size difference between the listed measurements of Conliffe (6'4" 260) and someone like Deandre Johnson (6' 3" 240) really might be.

That's what this thread is about. I mention the 0/1 in the post above. Was writing it while you were writing yours, apparently. These are the little things that need to come together in order to put together championship teams and runs. Because you can't go "we have a great front 7 this year" and then "we lost our front, but have a great back 7 the following year." Ideally, at some point, it all comes together.

Johnson is about 250-260 right now.

This kid was stabbed a year and a half ago and almost died. Lost a ton of weight and was really skinny. He still has room to get up to like 275-285 IMO

You, Vision and I must've all been writing our posts at the same time. Agree x 1000.

So, what's the issue with the staff seemingly passing on him? Film looks very good. In his movements, looks like a LB playing DT, which is exactly what Kul works best with...

I really don't know. DMoney and I were at the Southridge-Deerfield Beach game saying how he looks better than Tyreic Martin coming out, who Kool apparently loved.

Said the same thing don't get the Johnson moving inside thing at all.
It's not a prediction. It's a random mention because we REALLY need guys inside and no one has any idea what DJ's body will do in the next year. The guy has a huge frame. In my mind, he's a really nice fit to take over Chad Thomas' position and what they ask him to do. He's athletic enough to come across gaps, but also big and long enough to set the edge. Our two DE positions are asked to do very different things and Johnson fits Chad Thomas' very well while Garvin fits the position that was supposed to be AQM's and now belongs to Joe Jackson.

Looked at some of his pics and has a nice frame. 6-2/6-3 isn't too far off, imo. 15 sacks as a senior. Killian kid like Wiggins. Has been described as being a real good athlete.

Seems like a nice plan B kid to sign up.
