DEAD PERIOD IS OVER

Irvins is on it. says Richt will be in Jacksonville, but I can only see the 1st line in the article.

InsideTheU has learned that defensive coordinator Manny Diaz and safeties coach Ephraim Banda are both spending the first day of the contact period up in Central Florida where they will meet with Kissimmee Gateway three-star defensive tackle Dennis Briggs before he leaves for this weekend's official visit to UM.

While Diaz and Banda work Briggs, defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski and cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph will walk the halls of Fort Lauderdale American Heritage. The two will be there to see Top100 cornerback Tyson Campbell, Top100 cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr., Top247 defensive tackle Nesta Silvera and Top300 Andrew Chatfield. Miami is hoping to host all four prospects later this month.

With the defensive coaches making the rounds in Florida, a pair of offensive assistants will be up in Georgia. Valdosta Lowndes three-star offensive tackle Jalen Goss said that offensive line coach Stacy Searels will swing by his school on the first day of the contact period while Stockbridge Top300 athlete Marquez Ezzard said that he's expected to meet with wide receivers coach Ron Dugans.

Mark Richt and tight ends coach Todd Hartley on the other hand will spend the day up in Jacksonville. They will check up on notable underclassmen like Neptune Beach Fletcher Top100 wide receiver Jeremiah Payton and Trinity Christian running back Marcus Crowley. Keep in mind that Richt can only meet off-campus with prospects once a cycle and the Hurricanes want to save the head coach visits for a date closer to Feb. 7's National Signing Day.

Am I reading too much into the bold? They are hoping all four visit... not that they ARE visiting. It's going to be a long month

To be fair, they probably feel like there’s no reason to come back on an official visit. They’ve been to the campus multiple times, they know everything offered, and they have seen everything. what else is there for them to look at? They already know if they are seriously considering Miami or not. it’s hard to blame them for not being that interested in coming again.

No OV, no commitment.

I've heard nothing from any of them or from any reporter saying they are actually scheduled to visit. We hope they're visiting together at the end of the month, but there's been nothing official. I'd be surprised if they don't visit, but I've been surprised plenty of times over the years.

People talk **** about Coach Rumph and Kul going to Heritage but if they didn't, people would then talk **** about their recruiting acumen and needing to be fired because they aren't the guys recruiting them and will be their position coaches.

I like getting a head start on the 2019 class. Hartley already got his boys locked up and there's no point in using Coach Richt's visits this early in the game. So get 2 of our top recruiters out there to hit next years circuit, never too early to start planting seeds. People like to talk **** about early commitments but outside of Simple Jobe, we've signed the majority of our long time commits. And some of them were committed for well over a year.

People keep harping on how Rumph needs to close these kids and are mad that he is the one going to see them first. LOL. Cant have it both ways. And yes..his a$$ needs to be there and lock HIS kids up. Or at least lock up a visit date.

Diaz and Banda (our two heavy hitters in recruiting) have bigger fish to fry in getting Briggs on board because if we swing and miss on him we are phucked at DT for the second year in a row.

We got our two best recruiters on the case to get the AH4!!!!

Diaz should’ve been on the AH and Kul on Briggs especially since Briggs is already visiting. Not understanding this one.

I believe the each coach is only allowed to see the recruits once until the NSD (not including OVs). That being said, I believe that Richt and Diaz will visit AH guys closer to the NSD to seal the deal.
