Now that we have our new DL coach in Jess Simpson I'm excited to see us really get after it in what has become one of our major needs at DE. The great thing about 2019 and 2020 is that there seems to be an abundance of talent at the position as well as legit interest in UM.

I'm no recruiting guru but I believe we should sign about 4 DE this cycle. How do you guys feel about DE recruiting this cycle? How many do we take and who are top names to look for? I'll list 4 prospects that I would like to sign for 2019. Please feel free to add names and your opinions.

Khris Bogle
Braylen Ingraham
Lloyd Summerall
Cameron Williams(commit)

Getting all 4 of the above would be beyond epic and apparently there is mutual interest. Am I crazy or could we get at least 3 of the above prospects? Thoughts?

Bogle and Ingraham seem like good bets for future commits.

Not sure about Summerall - he seems to be favoring FSU at the moment.

And 3 DEs could be a good number for the class, so if the two above join Williams, perhaps we'll be done.

Other options will emerge.

Hopefully we don't get the entire '19 class committed too early (for all positions in the class) - there are always a couple late bloomers around.
 
Yeah, DE is a huge need for '19 - even more so that DT. I think we need to bring in at least 3.

How about the kid from Apopka that plays with Tyler Davis? Rian Davis I think.
 
I think 3 at DE is a good number.

I don't know many likely names for us other than Williams (committed), Bogle and the dude from STA (DT/DE tweener).

That's a possibility but I have heard that he is being looked at as a OLB. Who knows what can happen over his senior year. I'm sure there will be plenty of names that emerge.
 
I think 4 should be the target number as well, sign 3 at the bar minimum

99 is gone after this year, that leaves Patchan, Rousseau, Garvin, and the ‘19 kids we sign for 2019. We need 4 IMO. Ingraham is a future inside guy. Summerall is a future 1st round pick once he fills out, we can’t let that guy go to FSU.

Williams and Bogle are a great start.

True but keep in mind that Joe Jackson will likely be gone and D Jack graduates which leaves only 3 scholarship DE going into 2019 not counting the guys we sign in this class of course.

what does d end have to do with olb? they aren't the same position and we don't recruit like that.

we have 5 d ends. we don't need a grad transfer. unless we had an unusual rash of injuries at one position.

Definitely take one if you find a good one...5 definitely is the bare minimum you'd like to enter a season with.

1. Keep Cameron Williams
2. Bogle is a must get in this class, and I think we definitely get him. He and Cameron Williams, then add 2 more.
3. I also want to see us go hard for the ELITE DEs like Kayvon Thibodeaux, Nolan Smith, and Chris Hinton.
4. I really love Summeralls size, dudes got that long lean frame.
5. Guys like Braylen Ingraham, Mike Morris, George Karlaftis who can play SDE need to be recruited. Can't just get those Long lean WDEs. Need the thick dudes as well...and im not talking about short de/dt hybrids like Bethel....those are the guys we get to play 3tech.
 
We will have 6 DEs in 2018 and 6 DTs with Bethel playing SSDE in 2018 and 2019. Not ideal but not catastrophic.

In 2019, we'll play Ford, Silvera, Martin, and Miller at DT with Bethel, Patchan, Rousseau, and Garvin at DE. We'll need to add 3 DTs and 3 DEs to this depth chart in 2019, plus one more swing DE/DT.

2019 class=

Daxon, Brown, and Tyler Davis at DT.
Bogle, Williams, and Rian Davis at DE.
Ingraham as the swing SSDE and DT.
 
Bethel isn’t really playing d end and he isn’t moving to d end in 2019. Stop it.
