Day 1: Captains Practice 1/15/24

Team took the field around 4pm. I wasn't able to make it but we have a few of our fans in attendance, I also believe @DMoney and @Sebastian Font are in attendance.

Giroux on the bump: Not hearing good things about him. From what I'm hearing from people in attendance it was BP. He was topping out at 86, which means he did not take the offseason serious, did not throw any bullpens or warm up his arm. He will have to ramp back up to 90-91, but that is very very disappointing from a transfer veteran to just **** around in the offseason. Bad Bad look.

Jackson Cleveland, Rob Evans has made his debut, Nick Robert as well
Tanner Smith is hitting the baseball very hard

Besides Giroux it looks like the other 3 pitchers that pitched were preparing in the offseason. Rob Evans was consistent at 92 MPH, that is very very good sign. I expect him to be a massive contributor to this years team

I wasn't in attendance for the scrimmage today but caught up with Tate De Rias who will be pitching tomorrow. Heard Evans was sitting at 92 which is a great sign coming off the injury he had late in the fall. Robert also continued the momentum from the fall and looked good. Pretty certain that Cleveland will be the closer, super underrated guy who has impressed scouts. @SWEaglesFan @Canesfreak, I was told Stanyek was up to 95 today, would be huge if true. Were you guys there to see him?

confirmed he was shoving from someone close to a few players on the team. Really really good sign. Im starting to think we have something

Love that. I'm all aboard the hype train, but that's pretty biased from just being around the guys. Want to temper my expectation especially with how the basketball season turned out. However, I still expect over .500 at a minimum.
