Davon Johnson should be starting

Davon Johnson has had one above average game as a Miami Hurricane. I like him, but let's stop pretending he's anything more than a nice 3rd or 4th WR at this point.

A nice 3rd receiver can be extremely valuable. Every team needs role players.

I think what people have accurately stated is that he's taken advantage of every opportunity he's been given. In fact, it's almost unique in that he's *only* made positive plays despite getting limited chances.

The voice of reason approach sometimes is as ridiculous as the hyperbole approach.

Good points. I think he's even more important to us now that Lewis went down. But I also think some people are going to expect big things from him (some have already said he's NFL bound) and I wouldn't count on it.

Agree with that. If people expect him to become something he's not, they'll be disappointed. But, I don't see why he can't do really valuable things for Morris. I can only think of two very underrated guys who really helped out their young QBs: Ethenic Sands and Collier. My hope is Davon Johnson can help Morris in that way.

he's caught the ball when thrown to, he's picked up yards after the catch and he's been the best blocking WR so far this year. he has earned more PT. add in that Hurns is banged up, Scott has been inconsistent catching the ball and now Lewis is hurt...no reason he shouldn't be on the field more.

Besides PDs big game how many other guys have enough experience or games to have more than 1 above avg game? It's even across the board except for Hurns and we are waiting for PD to put together a body of work.

Davon takes care of our biggest weakness on offense, and that's attacking the middle of the secondary through the air. Since we lack a pass catching, YAC type of TE, Davon covers this really well and eases the pressure of our speed guys on the flats.

If he can consistently provide this, we'll have a very potent offense for the entire year.

Please be aware that Davon Johnson is a slot receiver at best... Note: Line him out wide, and you won't get much help with blocking down field.

Who should he start over? Dorsett? kidding me right??? Ha...Ha... Um, nottt...

Let's keep this in perspective: One game fellas, in a two minute offense, in which I'm pretty sure he wasn't the focus of the opposing defense. He got open, against either a Linebacker, or a 4th string nickel back; he caught the ball and ran, end of story.

I think Dorsett has been the best down field blocker of all the WRs. The group as a whole has done a great job there.

Isnt this what every slot receiver does?

If you put him on the outside, he may not be as effective. Keep him in the slot. He has a knack for finding holes in a zone and making tough catches. If he makes Morris feel more comfortable finding the middle of the field, he's more valuable to our team inside than being given a "starter role" and being placed outside.

yup yup Victor Cruz

Keep him in the slot. Phillip stepped his game up on the outside and Hurns/Scott are both bigger targets. With as wild as SM has been in general, letting him throw a bevy of 'easy' 5 to 7 yard passes to DJ is critical, and his YAC ability was impressive.

This receiving corps in general is improving week by week. Hurns goes down, and two other guys step it up. Scott dropped an easy one but made a tremendous catch late and flashes game-breaking ability every now and then. Player development is actually happening.

YES, agree totally! This is the first time in years that I feel our Receivers are actually "the money" on running routes, catching the ball and YAC! What a great feeling it must be for Morris to know he has guys who actually run good routes and actually catch the ball! Even our TEs are running good routes and catching the ball!

Additionally, guys are getting down field and blocking for other receivers and our backs. We have some darn good backs this year but, I believe we would not see the long runs we are seeing this year if the blocking of our receivers has not improved as much as it has! Overall, maximum accolades to our coaches for getting our guys coached up and focused! Reminds me of the old "U" teams!!! NICE!!!!!

Keep the kid in the slot and let him continue what he's doing. I like him as the 3rd WR but still think Hurns (when healthy) and Dorsett are the starters.
