David Thompson having 2nd shoulder surgery...

Is it his throwing or non-throwing shoulder?

I never thought this kid would see the football field to begin with.

As long as he can play baseball, he'll be fine.

That's not good to hear... However, with Olsen already signed-up and Kaaya verbally committed to Miami, the future is very bright at QB for the next 4-5 years.

I understand he has talent. Is it possible for a QB to help a team while missing spring practice playing baseball? Can a QB get enough reps with only fall practice?

I actually think he couldve provided solid depth and at least fought for the position down the road. Sucks, but best of luck with baseball to him

I am with you, I actually thought this kid could have started at QB and done really well for us....darn.

He's devastated to say the very least, and has all along expected to not just play football, but compete to start regardless of who is signed, etc. - that's his mindset. Obviously derailed by the shoulder trouble, he's in a frustrating doldrum now. Frikkin stinks for him and for us. I am sure in his heart he is determined he will beat this.

Sad, especially for such a talented kid. Sucks when guys like this, Josh Witt, Gavin Hardin etc are done before they even get started. Hopefully with modern medicine it just delays his dream, not ends it.

Amen. I was told the surgery was a success today to fix one of the stitches (solid, not the dissolving kind) that broke & opened some time after the first surgery - so it was sticking out, kept jabbing & causing pain. Finally they figured it out and had this 2nd surgery to correct it. Weird, but hopefully he's a fast healer.

Best of luck to him. He's been a **** of a baseball player for the U so far. I was really looking forward to him on the football field. Hope he is at least able to continue baseball.

If it's his labrum again I feel for the kid, hopefully they can correct his mechanics so this doesn't continue to happen.
