Good....another scholarship we can use for sanctions.

He was a senior so him leaving now does not help necessarily. We lose a practice body. He should of left 2 years ago... At least then we could of used his scholarship.

Why we're on the subject of scholarships, does Garret Kidd's scholarship count for next year?

An absolute mess. Defensively.. not even relevant..nada.

#UM #Canes DL David Perry quit the football team yesterday, per UM. He was listed as sr

he should have his doctorate by now… He's been here for like 8 years.

So this kid easily had over $250k of assets allocated to him during his time at the school and provided no tangible benefit to the team or the program. I don't begrudge the kid anything but those that want to blindly pay all of these kids too as they yell from soapboxes about Johnny Football raising $186.44 billion dollars for Texas A&M never mention the scores and scores of these type of situations.

This is why it is complicated topic that is mostly spoken from a bias perspective (i.e. nobody mentions the David Perrys of the world).

Miami is also a private school where the scholarship is worth $250k plus. Not all schools are.

As fans we also gripe that schools come down with the duffels to poach our recruits. But how else are they supposed to compete with Miami when they can get a scholie worth that right at home? They have to bring the duffels and offer incentives to lure them away.

Great opportunity for him to transfer next year and actually get some playing time. Good luck to the young man.

True but I'd venture to say that actual cost of tuition let alone our academic ranking is pretty far down on this list for a large percentage of these kids. It sounds great when Al is constantly saying that we're the #1 academic school in Florida but that truthfully only matters to a segment of these kids. In relation to actual money spent per athlete, I'd say all the AMAAAAAZING facilities at places like Alabamy and L$U probably make up that difference in tuition expenditure. At least we've been pretty good on the surface of allowing kids to finish their degrees after they "separate" from the team. I'm not so sure some other school...cough cough...SEC...cough cough...have that reputation. Nonetheless, I don't think you'll see anyone on Outside The Lines or anywhere else claiming that David Perry screwed UM out of money today and that the system isn't fair for the schools in this relationship.
