Fantasy talk but give me both and we're in the Playoff within 2-3 yrs and Herman has his pick of excellent head coaching jobs.

Rick f^cked us hiring Lispy and of course Jake Blames was outbid by LSU for Aranda’s services. Imagine where we would have been if Aranda was hired keeping Lispy as far away from this program as humanly possible.

People think it’s a better job because they’ve done 2x as much winning the last 10 years. Coaches don’t have Baylor or Miami in mind as a final destination, they’re stepping stones. It’s easy to see how a few years at Baylor will get you a better job, and it’s easy to see how a few years at Miami will get you a future as a TE coach. If you’re being honest you realize that’s what outsiders see.
 
Side note...his OL coach is Cuban. (not like that has anything to do with anything, but a fun little detail)
 
I’m interested on who the new AD is. That will tell a lot on the direction of the football team. We can throw names around for fun but if the new ad doesn’t share the same interest in football team then we might as well talk about Saban in Miami

our history has shown that we aren't a destination gig. were a stepping stone to the NFL gig in our past. I think we need a destination coach bc its impossible to hit on that many hires in a row if everyone keeps leaving (if all goes well with the next coach).
 
Aranda to USC seems like a no brainer. California guy from Bakersfield just north of LA. Went to school at Cal Lutheran right there in Thousand Oaks. Coached at Cal Lutheran, Hawaii, and Utah State and recruited LA at all of those places.

Obviously connected to LSU as well, though. USC just seems like the better fit for him.

I could see that. Franklin staying at PSU, Fickell staying at Cinci: the pool of candidates is getting slimmer and Aranda is a hot name right now.

Even LSU could settle on Stoops (he'd do a good job IMHO but he's not the sexiest name on the planet for a job like that)

They’re not settling for Stoops. He was a primary target for them.
