great news thanks, need this guy to be special, not for just this season, but for the overall state of the program.. the mediocre backers that we have become accustomed to talking up are not Miami material, this guy and Grace, as well as Kirby need to be 1st-2nd day NFL draft quality guys if we're gonna make the progress we expect

This kid is going to be a monster and could end up a round 1 or 2 pick. Similar mold to Alec Ogletree.

I keep hearing great things about his progress during spring and his ability. With camp about to start in a few days, don't be surprised when he makes noise.

He comes from a college style defense and is a very smart player. The defensive concepts are very similar to things he did at Oakleaf, but the terminology was just different.

I was told Owens' current weight is 232.

He is NFL Bound. once he gets the system down pack, he will shine. i'm thinking Anthony Barr type shine.

What system? Lol

Appreciate the post (and I'm also excited about DO), but it would be great if peeps would give a bit more in the title of the post when it concerns a current player. This is sitting right in top of a post entitled simply "Chickillo" which relates to an apparent injury. Then I see this one and initially think it's more of the same. Glad it's not.

I know the info is just a click away, so not a huge deal. But the season is around the corner so I know lots of us are phasing into hope and optimism. Stuff like this is bad for my health lol.

So in the above instances, something like "Chickillo injured?" and "Excited about Darrion Owens" would be swell.

Just throwing it out there. I know I'm not the only one.

I can't believe I wasted my life reading this.

Back to Owens; I've been on that bandwagon since day 1. I truly believe he has the size, skill-set, talent, ability whatever to leave here an All-American.

That's my dude.

A moderately related question - I seem to remember someone posting on here at one point that Armbrister was D'Onofrio's guy..... D had a hand in recruiting him personally or loved him as a find or something like that. Did I dream that up, or is that the case?

This is correct.

he's a killer too. finally denzel has guys like owens, young, kiy, jamal carter, etc

that kid is going to be the truth.. His freshman testing numbers are quite impressive. Darrion Owens: 4.79 40 (4.78 best), 4.36 20, 17 reps of 225, 425 squat, 332 power clean, 355 bench press, 29.5 vertical
he's only going to get bigger, stronger, and faster with Utough.

This kid is a different breed. I remember watching his weight room training as a high schooler and they were definitely way ahead of the curve compared to a lot of guys we see recruited. They were doing explosive training, and he was **** good at it. Obviously an extremely talented player, physically ready, just have to see how prepared he is mentally. You look at a kid like Kirby, crazy talent, but behind from the beginning mentally. Makes him look slow and unsure at times, not utilizing his best tools. Owens coming in early was nice. Really excited about him.

He looked one of the better athletes we've signed at LB in ages, and like he played with aggression. I really hope that he gets some PT this year.

Peter, Tito, Dmoney, anybody, can somebody confirm what the **** we are doing on defense? Will we be running the 3-4 or 4-3 ? Darrion Owens would be an impact player as a 3-4 OLB! Kid is explosive.

Pretty sure Armbrister was still better than Kirby last year. I know Kirby has more potential, but you guys act like Armbrister sucked and Kirby was the man, when that simply isn't the case. I expect McCord to play a lot of OLB, and could easily see Owens and Grace earning a lot of PT ahead of Armbrister and Kirby.

Sorry for my incompetency, but that isn't conformation. Updated Depth chart on the team website is in a 4-3 format. Our Recruiting would indicate a move to the 3-4, every website says we are moving to a 3-4 but post spring depth chart has Tyriq McCord as a backup DE yet on the roster a LB.Golden repeatedly asked same thing, says we are a 4-3 based multiple defense yet last couple of games we line up in a 3-4 to start games. Pardon me if I still don't see our identity on defense.

Those are some crazy numbers for a Freshman. WOW.
