Actually they're trying to hold him. Coaches are scheduled to have a meeting with him in hopes of keeping him, but he may not want to play back up anymore or he just doesn't fit what they want.

You've got to be kidding me here. This has nothing to do with the fact that he also plays de or multiple positions. This has to do with him and his skill set and if its ready to help the team now. As i said in the exact statement you quoted. "It'll take time to coach him up. " that time right now we don't have due to the positions lack of depth. Bruh,ive been clear why i say that but maybe its getting lost in transition. Im definitely of the opinion we need the depth at linebacker sooner rather than later(youve said ur not maybe thats all that matters to u.) His skillset hes coming to college with is very relevant because it helps him not only with wether or not hes able to make the transition period to the position but(for me) far more relevant how quickly hed be able to make the transition. Another wise how long it would be before hed be a game ready impact player at the position. My opinion bonitto is far more capable of playing in space than chatfield is but thats not relevant to the discussion.
