Darkest before Light

Quoting Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight now. Should probably just go ahead and make this the inspirational movie quotes thread.

With all of the crap that has been going on around this program the light cant be to far off.

With Golden and D'Onofrio, I'd equate it to real life combat.

Just when you think things can't possibly get worse - they do.

If your leg is busted, it's busted. No wishing will change the circumstance.

SMU said the same thing forty years ago. We done.

The law of averages is a layman's term used to express a belief that outcomes of a random event will "even out" within a small sample.
As invoked in everyday life, the "law" usually reflects bad statistics or wishful thinking rather than any mathematical principle. While there is a real theorem that a random variable will reflect its underlying probability over a very large sample, the law of averages typically assumes that unnatural short-term "balance" must occur.[1] Typical applications of the law also generally assume no bias in the underlying probability distribution, which is frequently at odds with the empirical evidence.[citation needed]

As long as our athletic department is more concerned with the image of the program rather than winning, we're never going to be elite.

ACC is becoming more and more competitive.

It will have to be a huge shift in philosophy from the athletic department to see any light. I don't see it happening.

Reality is, this is who we are. A mediocre program who once had a very rich tradition.

That stadium is nothing but darkness

It's like using golf clubs with the wrong length, wrong lie, wrong angle, sweet spot of a dime, worn grips and bent noodle shafts, and wondering why you can't compete with the big guns.

I believe good days are ahead again. What's the point of rooting for a team if you don't believe that? The fact that we are here on this site proves that we care about the team and want something more for it. If you don't believe it can happen, then that is a very miserable existence and you might as well take up a different hobby.

When people start talking like this, it reminds me of the black knight scene in Monty Python. Our program is the black knight and Coker/Shannon/GoRlden is the white knight. With each appendage lopped off, our fan base just keeps on with the same mantra. "It'll get better" "It can't get any worse" "We're about to turn the corner", etc.

Next time some one says "But, we're the []_[]!" Remember this image:

Well I can blindly follow and think everything is fine, or I can understand the reality we're up against and what may lie ahead. It doesn't mean I don't hope for the best, but to simply ignore the state of the program is detrimental. You can accept mediocrity , but I have a problem with it.
