I'll take the reference point further. FSU allowed 6.7 yards per play in Bowden's final season. That was 115th among 120. In Fisher's first season it jumped dramatically to 4.9, for 22nd in the country. And as I mentioned, in 2011 it was 4.16 for 3rd.

Defense is margin for error. Incredibly ignorant to dismiss FSU's foundation as no different than recent seasons.

Exactly. They may have had 4 losses this season but the defense took a dramatic step forward, 3rd in the nation in yards per play allowed, at 4.16, and not allowing 20 or more points in the final 8 games. Those are indeed SEC numbers. FSU late season looked very similar to a top SEC defense in terms of attacking the short passing game.

Very foolish to dismiss or downgrade them based on Bowden and Mickey's final seasons.

I wouldn't be very pleased as an FSU fan of doing such a ****** job recruiting Florida. They already had Pender as a lock through family ties

They better win quick because they'll lose their national recruiting appeal while we continue to pillage South Florida.
 
You can bring up their defensive stats all you want, doesn't change the fact that Jimbo is a corch.

D line could be insane and PJ williams is really good. They might have Bimbo coaching, but he is bringing in a top tiered Defensive class.
 
The talent that FSU has brought in the last 3 years on defense is **** good. Karlos Williams and PJ Williams as S is something we really could use. I hope one of our DB recruits becomes a star at S because its a position that can cover up a lot of holes in a D.

Their offensive minds suck. From the OC to the OL coach. As long as those people are there, I'm not worried.
 
It sucks only because we have to hear their fanbase talk smack, but they seem to close with a bang every year, yet, when the lights come on, they find ways to lose 4 or 5 games. Sooner or later, Jimbo's gameday deficiencies whill be to glaring to ignore.

I like what Golden is building, and we're getting back to bringing in top shelf athletes. Bush, McCord, Duke, Tracy, O'Donnell, Lockhart, AJL, Waters, Dillard.....these guys have some juice.

If he wants to be a college head coach, then I think he leaves if FSU puts in another solid year on defense. Mark is not getting any younger. He turns 45 this year.

A lot of folks at FSU think that scenario is very likely, if he has a defense as good or better than last year's. It would suck for FSU, but sometimes guys gotta move on and do their thing. I wish him luck if he does.
