"The competitiveness of both sides, especially during the one-on-ones, the seven-on-sevens," Odem told
InsideTheU about what he liked from the practice. On the practice as a whole, Odem mentioned that "it was great. I feel like they got a big year ahead of them, new quarterback, new defensive staff, new guys, but they're building up [and] coming together."
Odem and new Miami safeties coach
Will Harris have had a positive relationship dating back to when Harris was at
Florida, and he's forming a strong bond with defensive backs coach
Zac Etheridge, who Odem communicates with "often." "Great dude, great coach, develops great players, and I feel like he could get me to where I want to go," Odem said about Etheridge.
Miami will get a chance to make an extended run at Odem this summer. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound cornerback will be back in South Florida for his official visit with the Hurricanes from June 6–8. He also has official visits locked in with
Penn State (May 30–June 1),
Vanderbilt (June 13–15) and
Nebraska (June 20–22).
"Definitely one of my top teams," Odem said about Miami. "All the Hall of Famers, legends, DBs like Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, that came before me. Those are people I look up to."
