Daniel Wright commits to FSU

Here is the thing I don't get about getting the wins then getting the recruits. The difference between us and FSU the last few years is a very simple one. Miami and SoFla kids. That's it! Without kids turning their backs on their own, FSU never wins their last NC, their record of wins and losses is much closer to ours and finally, we own them! I don't understand why the kids can't see that except for some that are blinded by the $$$ being passed their way. We haven't been losing to FSU the last few years. We have been losing to our own.

Until we prove something on the field, this is what's going to happen. It's time to put 10 wins on the board and smoke FSU this year....

This is not our year to win recruiting battles... Its our year to win games... We win games this year... we can battle for recruits next year. We will get the kids that want to be Canes

This is usually the year when a new head coach has his best recruiting class. So we should be winning these, or more, recruiting battles for top-end talent.

The very first class is the "salvage" class and the the second class is the "bump" class.

U recruit then win not win then recruit.....this is the u not tcu or baylor

Bro, this ain't the 90's right now. These kids want to associated with winners. What have Miami done in the last 10-11 years?? Until the culture change, until Miami starts being Miami again, which starts on the field, we're going to lose battles. Kids wanna see us be back, but at the same time, they need to get paid. All you hear are FSU, Bama, Clemson, UF, and of course OSU get drafted in the first 3 rounds. All they hear is SEC this and that. All Jimbo does is say, peep our resume, we can get you paid...so it's imperative we win on the field this year. We can't win less than 9 and we gotta win a bowl game. Our rep has to be restored before Kids want back in.

I'll say it now, we beat FSU and win games this year, I promise u kids will flip or attempt to flip to us.

Fsu was worse than us a few ywars ago and jimbo hit the ground running with a bad first season......that win **** and they come is over rated... They come because they come the coaches recruit them

This + 1000. Richt and Co have done yeoman's work in the recruiting game so far without having coached a game yet. Until they prove it on the field however we can expect this to keep happening with the Daniel Wright's and Cyrus ***ans of the world.

just because you get a big bump in recruiting when you get a new HC, that doesn't mean that bump is big enough to win the big recruiting battles with Bama/FSU/etc yet. IDK about you, but we clearly have been seeing a gigantic bump in recruiting.
EX: Nick Roberts is a guy that at the end of the day, with Golden as our HC, I would have been decently happy with, because he cant land any top guys. But Under Richt he was a drop because Richt knows we are going after the big fish.

Still if we win 10 games this year, or just plain beat FSU, next year we WILL see another bump in recruiting.

That's exactly what it means. Golden's first actual recruiting class he beat UF, Bama, FSU, UGA, USC and more for recruits.

Now, I think we'll see that same bump with this Richt class once we put a better product on the field. I'm not freaking out over Wright or other recruits committing to other schools right now.

Tracy Howard, Deon Bush, and Tyriq McCord are the only three guys in the entire class that we really won a recruiting battle for. Duke and FLowers were coming here regardless what happened.
We beat out Bama for Bush, but that year they did go out and get Landon Collins and Eddie Williams who were both rated much higher.
We beat out Georgia for Tyriq McCord, but that year they signed Jordan Jenkins, Leonard Floyd, and the #1OLB in the nation Josh Harvey-Clemons.
So Howard was really the only big name win vs other top schools. Admittedly, it was a pretty major recruiting win.

My point is, a new coach will lead to a big bump in the overall class ranking. But it doesn't mean we win major recruiting battles for guys top 5 at their position.
Doesn't really matter though, As soon as we beast FSU this year, our recruiting classes are going to get as big of a bump as we could possibly need for the 2017 and 2018 class.

FSU out-recruits us (at least according to the "experts" rankings) most of the time. This has been true for 35 years even though we've won more National Titles during that time and put more studs into the NFL. They recruit great regardless of whether they win 8 games or 11 games.

While winning certainly helps, good salesmen (which is what recruiting is) can sell their program even after not-so-great seasons.

FSU is going to get theirs. We just have to get ours. Richt has shown himself to be a pretty **** good recruiter at Georgia and you'd think he'd be able to do it here.

Last year they got taylor and becker at cb and this year they get ***an and wright at safety. **** is crazy.

**** man, I had forgotten about Becker... Really thought we would snag him late in the process last season. Anyone know how he is progressing?
I know, I know, **** him if he aint a Cane.

is there a FSU db that's had a better career over the same time than Sam Shields? I just don't buy the they've had a few drafted high recently, but we just had a 1 and 4 from another ****** staff. If this guy believes CMR will not win at Miami, let's keep moving to the next one. We will win with CMR and big!!!

as long as they continue to win, they will get their share! CMR will get his as well.

Gonna be a long time before Miami has the depth of FSU. Say what you want about that staff, but they're ****ing phenomenal recruiters.

Wright and ***an is an A+ safety haul

No better than Jobe & frierson at CB for us next year

There are two games this fall that can turn around our whole recruiting outlook - F$U and @ND. I would prefer us not to drop an OOC, Coastal, or the NC State game, but even if we lost a couple of those but still beat F$U/ND, you will see South Florida kids AND OOS kids sit up and pay attention. The South Florida kids would be impressed with the F$U win, and OOS national studs would be impressed with a win on the road @ND.

Then, Richt can start working his recruiting strategy without the people out there saying "yeah, they compete in the Coastal, but they can't win the big one". They can say that, but then Richt can point to those 2 games.

Nobody being recruited really gives a **** about whether or not we win the Coastal. They couldn't care less about our OOC games. They want to see if we can not only compete but WIN the big games against the big name teams like F$U and ND. Do that...the flood gates open, and we can pretty much pick and choose who we want.

I'm feeling mighty lucky about that FSU game.

They're not going to be able to anticipate a significant portion of our game capabilities as in past years - which always indicated we'd choke in the second half.

This year? I think we'll put FSU in the back of the truck.

And there's no team I hate more than Notre Dame. I always root for my Canes, and whoever is playing Notre Dame.

You guys are comparing UM now to FSU when Jizzbo took over.

Jizzbo was already the actual HC there the last couple years of ****pants' tenure. And FSU, unlike us, never had a 10+ year run of irrelevance. They had a couple 8 or 9 win seasons then bounced right back to 10+ wins per year.

UM has become irrelevant over the last 10+ years. It's a testament to the school and hometown recruiting advantage that we've been able to sign the guys we've signed as awful as we've been.

Richt has a 10 win season and brings the excitement back to the program this year, and we'll get our share. We'll be doing the flipping instead of getting flipped.

Yup, the only reason this school still has a pulse is because of our location. Coaching, admin, facilities, and fanbase hasn't done this program any favors the last 10 years.

Now you know good and well that your boy bring that heat when I post, killa...so Imma have to call B.S on this response, D.

Outside of 2005 and 2009, where we actually had a better record than FSU, when our record was better than theirs, we had better incoming classes. The only caveat was the 2005 season b/c although we went 9-3 and they went 8-5, they represented the ACC in the Orange Bowl due to winning the ACC Championship.

When we were kicking FSU behind up and down the field in the 90's, people were clamoring to get into the U, not FSU. Now that FSU has been kicking our butts and getting more players drafted, kids want to go to FSU. Until we produce on the field, winning our own freggin division for God's sake, we are going to lose recruiting battles to FSU, OSU, Bama, and the like.
