D'Andre Litaker DT prospect decommits from Tenn

We have not been having very good luck with guys injuried in senior year.

I think that might have been the case with Edgerrin James. Does anybody remember?

Waynmon Steed was injured his SR year and all reports are saying he should be a major contributor next season
Willis McGahee was injured his SR year
Jaquan Johnson was injured his SR year (that injury to JJ forced Sheldrick Redwine to play some safety that season at Jackson)
Mike Smith was injured his SR year he is now a solid contributor

Didn't Jaquan Johnson go to Killian?

wasn't corn another one of those tennessee guys that signed post-NSD? Could be wrong, but it sets precedent

Back in the '80's & '90's we had some late signers contribute mightily: Jimmie Jones (DT, later with Cowboys) and RB Larry Jones.

As I noted above, the one unsuccessful case I remember was Curtis Justus, a stud TE from Oklahoma. I believe that was the year we got a two-headed monster at TE: Eric Winston and Curtis Justus. Winston ended up a OT. Justus came in with a knee injury. We honored his scholarship. He tried a comeback as a long snapper.

It really depends on the nature of the injury.

I’m thinking about the dline stud out of st Thomas who never impressed much and even Yearby, who was good but not quite what one would have expected. The guys mentioned took some time to contribute. Willis certainly had unnbelieaveable senior year but not much before then. There was of course some serious competition. I don’t know if Edge was hurt.

Willis was a redshirt sophomore the year he broke out. In his redshirt freshman year he had Clinton Portis and Frank Gore ahed of him.

Correct, my mistake.

I could be wrong, old brains don’t always remember right, but wasn’t Clinton our tailback during the last championship and Willis started the next year? I am thinking Willis played a lot of fullback the nc year. His next year was unbelievable until the injury. I could be wrong.

Pretty sure this is correct. Willis asked to play fb where he could actually get on the field.
