Dan Wolken/USAToday Slams UM/Ward

I absolutely refuse to blame Cam for anything. We are a .500 team without him. This bowl game was nothing and I actually don't blame Mario for doing what he did (shocking I know). You needed to know what you had in Williams. Now, you know you don't have a QB for next year because #17 is trash on the field.

Miami isn't a serious program, doesn't care about winning, and has bad culture.

THAT half a game stunt did more damage than good for program. It is what it is.

He could have played, and we won. He didn't we lost, simple. You may not like it, you may excuse it, but we lost because our star QB didn't play the 2nd half. That is why some cornfed midwestern programs are much better than Miami. They actually care, and compete, and try to win every game. We are a circus show

Sorry, this may have been Mario’s worst moment. Kid saved his *** this season and then throws him under the bus. Brain-dead response on his part. His non-response gave credence to the narrative that Cam walked into halftime and said I’m done. Now, Cam is getting hammered by clueless media types.

It's obvious that all parties agreed Cam would play the 1st half only so he could set the NCAA TD passes record as he only needed 1 to surpass Keenum and threw for 3. I have absolutely no problem with that. If you want to criticize Mario and UM, this isn't the issue to take that stand on as there are plenty of others, like the defense giving up 42 points again, or kicking a FG from the 2-yard line, or the lack of discipline regarding penalties.

BTW, Gabriel is only 5 TD passes behind Cam, so if Oregon continues winning he will most likely surpass him

Not going to lie, at the end there I was hoping he would come in just to put us out of our misery and save us. But at the same time, I fully understand why he didn't. All these people commenting negatively on Cam's character are just looking to join in on hating Miami and clearly didn't follow us all year. Cam is all class and we owe him so much for what he did for this program this year.
The players and staff were telling fans to shut up when they were chanting we want cam. This wasn’t a he quit on the team stupidity

Every “media” member should be ashamed of themselves with the narrative they are trying to push. You have to be a special kind of dumbass to not see what the plan was and that they wanted to give Emory a half to really see what they had.

To bag on Cam and try to ruin his special season is just inexcusable. Just disgusting.

Lol if you think Mario had a choice.

I mean I guess he could have told Cam to stay at home

I'm shocked this is even a story.

Guys have been opting out for YEARS, but now it's a problem?

Remember our bowl game against OK State during the COVID year? At least one guy on their team opted out at halftime after D'Eriq King injured his knee.

Malik Nabers did it last year.

It's a dumb talking point for clicks.
Because it's Miami bro. Nobody cares until Miami does it. Nobody cared about running up scores until Miami did it in the 80's. Nobody blinked an eye at paying players until Miami was winning championships(and SMU). And nobody cared about players playing in bowl games until Cam Ward decided to sit out the second half.

And if he came back in on that last drive they would say that he's selfish and stole Emory's chance to be the hero.

You can be all class and still **** up. Was it him or the staff though is the only question.

The goal of any game is to win it. You do that by playing your best available and he was standing right there on the sidelines on camera looking ready to play.

I don't know if Mario has addressed anything to the media or not about it. I would love to hear what the true story is here.

Was the plan to get the record and then sit at a predetermined spot? I'm sorry, that's a negative from me if I'm the coach. You're either all in or you're not..

Some may say it was to hand off the torch, they believed in Emory, or whatever. That's well and good, but Cam should've put his helmet on and stood next to Mario asking to be put in. ****, Mario should've walked up and told superman he's gotta don his cape for one last drive.

By the same token, they handicapped Emory. We went to Mario ball and were doing a great job moving the ball. Still, who gives the best chance to run the field that last drive?

All around, it speaks of incompetence. The end result, a loss on a national network. This encapsulated what a terrible game manager the head guy is.

I definitely don't disagree. Just sick of seeing the media take shots at Cam and act like he's the worst human ever. Have seen people say that his character may be just as concerning as Shedeur's, which is crazy to me. Still think we could've won without him if we didn't decide to let Emory continue to throw at the end there when it clearly wasn't working.

Dude is an idiot, it was an honor watching Cam one more time. That guy can suck a railroad spike, fck him. Offense put up 31 in the first half in a game he didn’t have to play. If anyone thinks he “opted out” they are dolts to the highest degree. This was the coaches decision to see what they had with Emory. Fire Guidry! 😭
Honestly, I don't care if he did Opt out. I will for ever be grateful for the half he gave us and coming to Miami. The young man has about 20 million guaranteed coming. If I was Mario, I am not letting him play the second half.
