Dallas Crawford?!?!?

Isn't the issue with both that they are in that ~200lb range, and we are hoping for a big 220+ guy to be the bruiser compliment?

Clements and Crawford are good backs, but they are similar builds to Duke. My fear would be that all 3 wouldn't wear down a defense...

Dillard. 6'2, 225.

Everyone is underrating Duke's size. Just because he isn't built like McGahee doesn't mean he isn't an every down back. He is. I've seen Duke personally on several occasions and he is thick. (No homo.) He is bigger than both Clements and Crawford. He has RB hips and legs. There's a lot of Frank Gore in Duke. Similar style and build. Both have great vision, cut back ability, and neither one is particularly tall.

Last I saw Dillard I came away unimpressed. Seemed a bit lanky. Did not appear to have the "power back" build; then again, that's probably more of an attitude than anything.

If the coaches are worth their salaries, they won't need a true big back to compliment Duke. It'd certainly be easier and more desirable but if the concern is Duke's health then having two other capable backs still gives them the options needed to spell Duke. They obviously can't replace a power back for short yardage situations ideally with OT or DC but being creative in those situations negates the necessity for a bruiser

Duke is a great short yardage back from what I've seen.

That said he can't be getting 30 touches a game so someone else is going to have to step up. Clements, Crawford, Dilliard will all get their opportunity.

]In my OPINION....Alex Collins is similar to Dillard, Clements, & Crawford in the aspect that they all are unproven on the collegiate level[/B]. Of course we would love to land a *5 star POTENTIAL stud, but we also must not discredit the guys on the current roster who have not had the chance to shine yet. I think the public outrage for Collins not picking us is actually going to fuel the current players and it's evident on twitter by the support Crawford is getting from his teammates. We need to show just as much love to the current players as we do to these recruits. Lets push Dillard, Clements, Crawford, etc... to be great, boast there confidence...So what we didn't get Collins, we got DILLARD, CLEMENTS, CRAWFORD, just might be a gem somewhere in there! It's not about one recruit it's about the []_[]!

way to go out on a limb there

With Alex Collins going to that OTHER school...some of the current guys (i.e. Dorsett, Chick, etc...) are saying on twitter that Crawford is the guy to fill the void. Could we be overlooking one of the guys on the current roster? Just a thought...

negged for too many exclamation and question marks in title.

Crawford reminds me of a shiftier Damian Berry, i like him. And he's a gamer too, wont back down

This guy is one of the best football players on the team. He can run, he has great hands, he can throw and he's a missile on special teams.

His best long-term position is slot receiver IMO, but he can execute several different roles.

i think miami can fake it at RB next year and get by before hopefully loading up with the 2014 class.

that said, if duke gets hurt for any significant period of time then we're probably ****ed. we can find someone to carry the ball 10-12 times a game adequately... finding TWO guys that aren't duke to do that is something i'm a lot less optimistic about.

but yeah, i think dallas should get a look. and he will, because who else is there? they will all get a shot.
