He's really not though. I was with both of them last week. OJ is probably bigger than yall think. They're pretty close.

Xavier has the freakier traits overall, but OJ is a stickier cover guy. Always has been. OJ is a true CB and has been playing it his whole life. Xavier was a large Safety that got moved to CB his Junior year of high school.

You think Lucas sticks at corner or goes to safety?

I know Jack **** about playing DB so I’m still trying to figure out where all the new guys will be playing

Coach, Do you like Lucas better at CB or Safety on this level? I'm sure he could excel at either but what is your opinion? Also what is Lucas's best attribute?

With the comments about needing another S makes me tend to believe they want him at CB. If we miss at S maybe he goes there out of necessity but I never like that.

So you likely have 3 spots to fill have to assume OJ will lock down his spot.

Then we have Brantley, Karnley, Lucas and Brown all competing for the other outside corner spot and nickel.

You also have some young wild cards... Ryan Mack, Ewald, Antoine, O'Connor that I would not expect much of this year

S Poyser has one spot, then maybe Richards, Day, williams or Patterson fighting it out over the second safety. Some of this will be moot as I think we are guaranteed to lose some of these guys in the portal too much of a log jam especially if a guy like Markeith or Jadais are passed by the younger guys.

To me O’Conner is better than Karnley and Damari Brown

He’s gonna be in the mix for a lot of playing time I hope

Sorry yes you are correct, I had O'Connor and Karnley backwards, swap those two names in my above post. O'Connor is in it for 1 of the 2 spots left and Karnley is a wait and see.

Gotcha yeah I’m board with that. I know people were down on the Karnley addition and I can’t really say much to it that hasn’t already been said, but the room certainly feels like it was flipped

Antoine was to me absolutely one of the best cover corners in the country as a junior so thankfully we have some time to get him bounced back and coached up and Mack is intriguing as well

Pretty sure he was hurt last year but he was impressive during the all star circuit

If we want the best 5 DBs on the field as much as possible Idk how that isn't something like:

S - Poyser / Dylan Day / Markeith / Fitzgerald (if single high)
S - Lucas / Damari or Patterson / Richard
OCB - OJ / Antione / Fitzgerald / Ryan Mack
Nickel - Brantley / Damari / Ewald /
OCB - O'Conner or Brantley / Karnley or Jadais Richard

And then Damari as either Big Nickel or moved to safety as well. Honestly and 1-2 of Lucas, Damari, and Richard could all probably be better for us at safety. But that would probably make us too inexperienced at CB...

I think Damari is a much better nickel than Brantley
