DAILY DEBATE: Who is our backup QB against Notre Dame?

Depends on the situation. If the game is close and Beck has to sit out a few snaps ... EW due to "experience". If Beck goes down in a game and can't finish, I would expect EW ... until he shows he can't do it ... then out of desperation Luke might get the snaps. UNLESS Luke really takes off growth wise (game slows down for him) between now and the end of Fall practice. THEN he might get the nod ... just like Lagway did when Mertz went down last season.

We go Wildcat with Lofton and Toney

If we have to rely on our backup QB against ND, it won't make much difference who it is. We have one shot this year and it currently rests on the broke-*** arm of the Latina-lover.

This would be my guess as well. Emory knows the system well enough to come in off the bench with some level of confidence. He's the only QB on the roster who's actually played in a college football game.

Unless someone completely outplays him, I have to think Emory makes sense as the #2 specifically for the Notre Dame game.

If Emory plays against ND and it’s not when we are up 100, fire everyone

"until he shows he can't do it"?????

We had a few games worth of tape as a true freshman that was shaky at best, then we had the PóopTarts Bowl. Did you miss it? If it was the Vaudeville era, there would've been an extra long cane (walking device, not Hurricane) that extended from the sidelines to yank him out of the game. I seriously haven't been that disappointed in QB play maybe ever. He looked AWFUL. Not mid. Not mediocre. Not below average. He was friggin AWFUL. He's clumsy, uncoordinated and his wobbky throws aren't anywhere near a spiral. His footwork is bad. His reads are slow. His accuracy is not accurate. He can stay on the squad as a hype man and to help the team's overall GPA, but I don't want to see him take another snap at QB here unless Lee Majors' bionic arm is sewn on in place of his right arm.

So.. its the guy everyone said would never play a snap at Miami vs the guy nobody wants to play another snap at Miami?

We're going to be having this exact same debate next spring.

IF it's E,mory, all he'll be doing is handing off the ball. Wouldn't be shocked to see some wildcat stuff.

Drew Pyne
I know you’re probably trolling but I feel like this is a legit option that makes sense. The guy is a career backup and not a good QB.

But the list of QBs willing to transfer and sit behind Beck is not going to be a long one. It’s going to be filled with a handful of guys like Pyne. He’s atleast got a ton of experience and came in against Oklahoma last year after Cook got injured and won the game.

I would absolutely take Pyne as an emergency backup over Judd, Emory, or Nickel.
