Dabo v Mario (coaching decisions)

No matter if Mario had gone for it on 4th down, most are assuming the attempt is successful
Whether it was a failed attempt, successful, or the FG that occurred all scenarios still come down to the defense having to make a stop, which we all knew, unless some weird occurrence happend was not going to happen.

Yeah, tbh, I don’t really hold that decision against Mario. The same secondary outcome was needed, regardless of what happened.

Mario should have gone for the TD on 4th-and-goal. Elite offense and QB, juts need Dawson not call a stupid play. I am not assuming he would, but I'm just saying.

Tie game and Miami has a chance. Sure, the odds are Syracuse would have moved into range for a potential game-winning FG or the defense surrendering a TD. There also was a chance for a negative play that causes Fran Brown to go conservative and play for OT, or better yet even a Miami turnover.

Fail to tie or kick the FG and it was Game Over.

I am more upset the team blew a 21-0 lead. At worst the offense should keep scoring and win 40ish-30ish.

Not only did the defense surrender 35 points, the offense only managed 17 while giving Syracuse a freebee on a scoop-and-score TD.

Yes, there was the horrible holding call on DM's long run but there are plenty of people point fingers at.

hot take here......even if we go for it on 4th and get a TD. Syracuse still goes down and scores a FG/TD as time expires.

the defense sucked and ruined the season for us.

Mario's decision there you can argue either way, but fact of the matter the Defense would have still blown it in the end.
Didn’t even read the 3rd sentence, agreed after the 2nd sentence

You don’t have to like the guy, but you’re either being dishonest or not paying attention if you don’t see him trying to make changes and evolve his style, at least to some degree. Was it Louisville when we went for it on 4th down on like our own 30 or something? Did CaVEmaN BrOBaLL not just have literally the No. 1 passing offense in the country?

He has his flaws, we all know that. But clock management was better this season. If you want to give him ****, complain about the DB situation at least.

Not saying it was the correct choice but I go back to that game against NCState when Manny kicked the FG and then we got the ball back and scored the game winning TD. It would have been the game tying TD if we went for it and didn't get. You look like a genius when it works but an idiot when it doesnt. Same thing can be said for guys like Dan Campbell aggressively going for it all the time. It's all great when you make it but you will get called out when it doesn't.

Also Dabo was down 14 so that's a different scenario.

It’s obvious Mario isn’t a great game day coach but this is nothing more than cherry picking and two different situations.

Don’t forget Dabo elected not to kick a FG in the 1Q against SC and it cost them the game. A decision so obvious I came on here and said that will cost them the game. Always take the points in a close rivalry matchup.
