24/7 tidbits

the talented cornerback was calling out the offensive plays and routes during 7-on-7s. Because of Howard’s football intelligence, he was quickly able to switch up coverage to disrupt the receivers’ tendencies.

“He even shocked me,” linebacker Denzel Perryman said. “To see him call out the routes and then to see it actually happen, it was like, ‘wow, this kid is ready.”

“Tracy is one of the guys I believe is going to earn every minute of his playing time,” Perryman said. “He knows what is going on. He stays here late at night doing extra work on the field and watching film. He’s prepared and he’s ready to go.”

**** 5 star that may pan out OMG

ohh and Tracy also called out Allen Hurns on 1 on 1's also impressing the upperclassmen

I remember they saying Tracy was focused from the beginning, watching film on his phone. Love the work ethic of these guys.

I wasnt as high on howard last year as i should have been. I was focused on his physical limitations, but didnt appreciate the level of his mental focus and character/attitude. Love to hear this isht.

Nice. Loving how more prepared this class is, and how strong the work ethic is.

Mcgee/Finnie/Howard/Hope combination sounds really good.

I can't wait for next year with another year of experience under their belts.

The better Tracy, Hope, and other DB's are, the better our receivers become.

Same same with all other positions. You have one really great player at one position, you frequently end up with a great mirror at that opposing position. We haven't had that in any numbers for a long time.

Can't remember which scout was singing Howard's praises when we were recruiting him but he used the word "ferocious" when describing Howard's style of play.

Probably the first time I ever heard that word describing a CB.

CanesAreable- that's I meant to only include Finnie/Hope/Howard combination..

I feel like this question has already been asked but how limited physically is Tracey Howard. I feel that this knock is unfair and in reality just continues to show the sting from losing PJ back in 08. I think Howard every bit the athlete B Harris was but a better player. He isn't Petersen but who really is?

I remember reading that he was lagging considerably during the drills at the Nike Opening camp last year. Cant remember if its the timed tests or the competitive drills, or both.

Tracy is not fast he's a 4.6-4.7 guy right now..but so was Janoris Jenkins coming out of high school..so I have hope

I think it's a comment that was relative to his ranking, and perhaps his ceiling. He was the no.1 CB in the country per Rivals. Generally, that guy has more speed and size than tracy. No one was saying he won't be good. But when comparisons were made to PJ (and comparisons are a natural part of recruiting discussions), it was natural for this subject to come up.

This could end up being one **** of a recruiting class. So much potential at so many areas. Reminds me a bit of 2008- just hope it turns out differently.
