supposedly he will transition towards LB in college. The problem is that our LB’s are lighter speed guys who can cover and he appears to be too small height wise to be a take at DE.
But he has no film on his coverage skills and most of our LB’s are coverage guys. We’re not going to offer a guy that doesn’t fit what we do. The only place he could possibly fit on this D is DE unless he can prove he can cover dudes and is quick. All the LB’s committed now either play LB at 200-205 lbs or are big safeties. Patrick Joyner was the same size as this dude and was suppose to transition to LB and they quickly moved him back to DE.supposedly he will transition towards LB in college.
Your right about coverage skills, he is 6'2 225 thats about 20lbs more than what patrick weighed coming out of highschool. They also move patrick joyner to DE bc of a lack of depth. But I do agree with you on his coverage and quickness. Same thing with samuel brooks to. We need to start recruiting linebackers who have speed, height, and weighs 220 coming out of highschool, becuase i'm worried once some of the 2019 LB recruits start gaining weight when in college they are going to slow down. But he has no film on his coverage skills and most of our LB’s are coverage guys. Where would he play? I can think of the exact position he would play at Bama and FSU but there isn’t one for us. Why should I look at a guy I have that doesn’t fit anything I do? Or are you too simple minded to understand that?bama evaluating but he is too short for us LOL

More importantly why should I look at a guy that camped with us and didn’t dominate?

Where do u think he would play, because hes to small for DE, and probably has terrible coverage skill and cant run sideline to sideline.Where would he play? i cant believe height is still considered a pre-req for DE (or entire d line for that matter). O line yes, but why d line? im much more concerned with strength/agility/aptitude/stamina. At the NFL level i get it as certain shortcomings (no pun intended) are tougher to overcome at that 1% level...but there have been a plethora of very successful collegiate football players that did not hit a certain height threshold relative to their position. Just off the top of my head for d line...kid from WASU last few years, dumervil, trent harris, tim jernigan, aaron donald, corey moore.
Im not arguing that every guy is a 'take' regardless, but it used to drive me nuts when we would hear golden passed on players based on not checking every box in terms of measurements. If we arent at a minimum evaluating a player in our own back yard because of that it is shameful.
3-4 OLB at Bama and FSU uses multiple fronts so he’ll stand up and play DE/OLB roleWhere do u think he would play, because hes to small for DE, and probably has terrible coverage skill and cant run sideline to sideline.
Says “why aren’t we at looking at undersized DE’s from our backyard?”
Names 2 players( including one that plays here) in 15 years from said backyard and still wonders why.
Toolbox was able to do a multitude of things...even cover in the flat and is considered an anomaly. This kid has no tape in coverage and doesn’t have long arms compared to guys like Khris Bogle, Patrick Joyner, and even Toolbox. I’m not going to look at a guy when I’m pretty sure he’ll be buried on my depth chart.so you are telling me if this kid is 6'1-6'2 at the potential of 240-250 with elite strength he wouldnt be a consideration? Yes if he didnt dominate at our camp that is certainly a concern. But you cant disregard a kid based on size alone. We just had trent harris who was 6'2-6'3 250.
I disagree, he has the size but do we know if he has the coverage skills or speed to play OLB3-4 OLB at Bama and FSU uses multiple fronts so he’ll stand up and play DE/OLB role
