Elite as long as he has the resources he would need. Dude is a great recruiter. It's beside the point though since he is not going to come here.

He is a good recruiter and would be very good at Miami if given enough to stuff the bags and would be elite if he did not get caught giving the bags

No...it would be on the back of the staff he'd put together...He learned both from Butch...
I haven’t read if you are a Mario guy. What are your thoughts on him? I’d love him here, and think he’d do great here…but, Inwill admit I’m not familiar w a lot of the other coach possibilities

Recruiting is a relatively small part of our problem. Sure we need to recruit better at some positions, but we’ve been pulling in top 15 classes almost consistently over the years. Maybe that’s not good enough to win a NC, but it’s definitely better than the 6/7 wins a season we’ve been getting. We need developers. But it seems like every coach we bring in goes retarded once they get here. No matter how good they were before

Getting a competent coach who can Coach the talent we get is number one for me right now though if he’s an elite recruiter like Mario, I understand as he still develops and coaches toughness.

Oh no doubt. I think Mario would crush it here recruiting. And I think he does a good job with development as well. I just was pointing out that even getting a coach who recruits at the level of a Manny but develops players better would make a world of difference in our record every year

You don’t have to be top 5 to win at Miami. All you have to do is solidify the trenches and QB, the rest takes care of itself. Plenty of 3 star receivers who can get the job done. Plenty of 4 star and 3 star CB’s good enough to keep you in games.

Yeah, I’ve been thinking that same way for a while. Just watching other teams with less talent beat us or play us close is always a reminder about the poor coaching being the primary problem.

I agree, I think Cristobal is a good coach who would do well with our current roster. But for him to get us winning or competing for titles, it would need to be on the back of his recruiting, similar to Butch.
100% but before we think about winning titles we need to think about winning ACC consistently. The best recruiter of all time is a winning football team lol

Mario down here does what James Franklin did for Penn State. 9-12 wins annually (giving us an extra win cuz no OSU in coastal) plus recruiting classes from in the 15-5 range. I'll take that.
