Corn's KR

WTF has that been all year?!? Kid is a natural and looked more explosive than I was expecting.

I'm surprised Elder didn't get a look earlier.

His only other return was against USF. He should've fair-caught it and got crushed and but he held on without a problem. Instinctual player with a downhill cutting style that translates to returns.

Exactly what PhenomCane and I said while watching his return (in a driving rain). Corn Elder should have the ball in his hands. Granted, I think skillset-wise, Braxton Berrios will bring a similar skill set to the team next year. That should allow us to keep Corn at corner.

Dmoney how do you feel about your boy Morris now?

He threw for 324 yards, we ran for 28 yards and the defense gave 549 yards. But I wake up to multiple threads calling for Williams. There isn't going to be an intelligent debate on the topic so I'll leave it alone.

I'm at a loss for people who think Morris played bad last night. VTech had the #1 pass defense, were allowing QBs under 50% and 17 INTs. Our guy went for 300+ 2 TDs 0 INTs, with a few bad drops and we have people complaining.

Take away the two big long 80yd runs for TDs and he had 159yds on 27attempts... Garbage and anyone who defends him ecsecially after his post game interview where he's munching on a snickers needs to take a reality pill

So we are taking away big plays from QB now, hahahaha. Might want to check every QBs stats if plays longer then 30 yards don't count. Should we count yards on drops as well?

Post game comments were stupid......doesn't mean he played bad. I would hope people can still watch games rationally.

Lulz in the big scheme of things yes you do. Yeah those were big plays but how did he perform during the rest of the game? Or was he just hungry for a snickers?

The point is, he DID hit those two big plays for TD.

Morris is way down the list of why we lost last night. Turnovers and a defense that is shot are higher up the list.

Hoping Corn stays on offense; displayed vision and burst on his return, aka things we need. Would love to see him in the slot or in the flat out of the backfield.

From what I've heard and seen from Greentree, Corn Elder looks like a future star on defense. There are very high hopes for him at corner. He is also a psycho competitor who is impressing everyone from an intangibles standpoint.

He is too thin for running back, IMO. His physical skill set translates to corner and we need more elite athletes and competitors on that side of the ball.

I think we have enough playmakers on defense

Really? Based on - tackles? TFL? Sacks? Hurries? Interceptions? coverage?

LOL at subtracting RAC yards from a 324 yard, 2 touchdown, 0 interception performance. I'm sure if Williams or anyone else did it, the same subtractions would be made.

Morris is only a problem last night if you believed he's something that he's not. If you expected a special performance where a Senior QB takes his team on his back, makes a ton of individual plays in or out of the pocket, and we score 50 points. As has been noted on this thread and others, Morris doesn't even seem to have the trust of his own OC. I think some actually thought Morris was a "special" QB or had the chance to be, and that's why there are repeated threads over this issue. Ryan Williams wasn't the answer last night.

Stephen had probably his best statistical game yesterday. The loss was on the special teams and the D all of whom are coached. Embarrassing showing...

I think watching Morris in person really makes you see what type of QB he really is. All those inaccurate throws that you saw during the game aren't as close as you think when you watch it on tv. His throws were wayyyy off the mark at times. I think no one can really come in here and talk crap about our team unless you go to the games.

Nor next year. Olsen better be ready.

Havent seen anybody mention but our OL got *****ed again. It was bad. Can't blame Crawford or Gus for getting hit before the LOS on every ******* play.

Idk if he is hurt or always bad but Mcdermott is a complete liability

Not blaming an OL entirely when people in the ******* stands who can barely see straight because of how much they've drank are calling out run or pass based on personnel packages (who's in the game). That's really frustrating, man.

For as little as he has been used, Elder should've been redshirted. Staff repeatedly makes bad decisions on burning shirts. Tucker most recently. Even a guy like McCord last year. To waste a redshirt year on Elder to play punt return special teams (as a blocker) and get a few plays against Savannah State at CB? That's a very bad organizational decision. One that happens repeatedly. Golden consistently wastes an entire year to throw true freshmen on special teams.

I agree with that to a certain extent, then I look at Standford who basically tells you "we are giving the ball to this guy, and we are running this way" and they still get 6-7 yds a pop. It can be done with the right coaching, players, and DNA instilled in the players.

It's really not true at all that Stanford tells you "we are giving the ball to this guy and running this way."

They run counters. They run power. They sprinkle in zone stretch. They bootleg with their QB. They sprinkle in zone-read. Just because it's a run and, likely, a downhill run doesn't mean the defense is balanced and/or knows what's coming. When I watch defenses getting mauled by Stanford, their defenders look like they are on their heels.

It may have been educated guessing on my part, but in the Oregon game, based on how they lined up, I got about 60% of their plays called to the T. Maybe it was luck, or maybe they just found a weakness and decided to exploit when Oregon couldnt adjust. They didnt run play action pass as nearly much as I expected when they got the ground game turning, but they didnt really have to.

I dont have a point in this except to say, our stregth (allegedly) is our O-line and we have a couple of guys who will maul your teeth into powder along with a couple of backs built for a power game. Why dont we help out our defense and go to this philosophy? Our defense has to be averaging about 37 minutes a game being on the field, partly their fault, and partly because we have an offense that goes three and out and takes virtually no time off the clock seemingly several times a game.
