Congrats Canes.

Fwiw, I've read in the past regarding Cal football that the school doesn't do a good job of supporting the football program. Is this true?
We've been there before.
It waxes and wanes. At this particular moment I think the school is supportive, but previous administrations have been less so. We are still struggling to pay off debt from the redo of our stadium some years back, and I think a lot of faculty resent that. And we've been a "middling" team in the PAC-12: not good enough to vie for the championship, but not exactly bottom-dwellers either, so there's not as much passion for FB as you might find at other campuses.

Cal fans. Hold your head up. Great game plan, great coach. Bright future. Cam did his thing and sadly for you guys you had to contend with the best QB we have had in years and perhaps ever. Love Berkely - that forest on top of the hill is SICK. Visited with my daughter who took a good look at your school. I loved the visit. Sadly it was just too far for her…

Well, of course I was upset that the Bears blew the large lead we had in the 4th quarter - I really thought we had it in the bag. But it goes to show that one can never take anything for granted in College FB. But, everyone can agree on one thing - that was a helluva exciting game. Hope those of you who made it out to Memorial Stadium had a good time in the Bay Area - unfortunately we were in the middle of an unequalled heat wave on Saturday (temperature records were being busted left and right this past week), but at least I think it didn't affect the game itself.

Beautiful campus and stadium. Loved the enthusiasm of the student section I was sitting next to. Didn’t grasp the concept of students hurling (not empty) beers into your own fan sections below.

Welcome to the ACC and good luck.

Appreciate the kind words, @Chalcidbear.

I know that the outcome of the game was difficult for y'all to process and accept. I get it, my alma mater has been on the losing side of some adverse calls, particularly before replay existed.

Having said that, I hope you can understand our long history of getting worked over by the ACC refs. Neither the conference powers-that-be nor any ACC refs have ever done anything to show favoritism towards Miami. We had 80 yards of penalties in the 4th quarter, so if the refs were trying to help us, they sure had a funny way of doing so. In the interests of a collegial conversation, I will leave the discussion of the details of specific penalties for another day.

I was at GameDay and I was at the game itself (4th row). My college roommate lives near Sacramento, so I got to spend a few days in the area. I had a great time, and I hope we can play this game with some regularity. I saw some bad behavior pre-game and during-game, but it was fairly isolated and NOT NEARLY as bad as what I have seen at Florida or Florida State.

Glad that we were able to play our part in helping you guys host College GameDay for the very first time. I was highly impressed with the signs your fans produced, my personal favorite was "The Adams-Onis Treaty was a Mistake". That one was a deep cut.

Let's do this again soon.

Good luck on the rest of the season.

You and your fans showed up and out for the most part and it was a great game to watch….Hope we can be as accommodating to you guys when you come to the Rock…you know like no A/C in the Locker Room,Throwing bottles at our players , ETC you know the usual…

Kidding ( except for the no A/C thing) every fan base has a few rowdy fans….but nice post and don’t lose to FSU anymore…still trying to figure out how your team managed to lose to them..they suck!

I will say this about the A/C issue.

When I was flying out on Thursday evening, the Delta monitor said that the temperature in Sacramento was 101. This was around 4 pm California time. I visited some wineries on Friday. It was hot.

On Saturday, we went to Tap House at 4:30 in the afternoon. The place was boiling. Upstairs and downstairs. Good lord it was hot.

The Cal Stadium is old. VERY old. I'm willing to believe the A/C issue was an accident. But we might need to test out the locker room heaters (you know, to see if they work) when Cal visits Miami next.

Helluva game.

It's Cal's fault FSU has a win. This is unforgivable.
Yeah -we didn't score a single TD that game. Reminded me of Cal's putrid offense back in the 1990's. When we played Stanford one year, Deltha O'Neal was responsible for the majority of our scoring ... and he was one of our defensive backs!

Yeah, that sign was sick. I also loved: "I thought this was a protest", and "You people are blocking the library."

A former coworker of mine is a Penn Alum, and he said alot of his professors and even some alums at the Ivy League were resentful of their football team's succcess, especially when they won often during the 1980s and 1990s. I always found this bizarre but it is apparently a thing.

Stand up post, @Chalcidbear. Much respect to you, your team, and a fanbase that came out strong to support its school while (mostly) keeping things light and fun. Welcome to the ACC!
