Concern or Fluke?

One of my favorite Fisch plays of was that RB wheel route which was money. We need to bring back that play. Also Duke or Yearby would be amazing backs with screen plays but we really struggled setting up the blocking on those plays last year. Both Kehoe and Coley need to prepare the team better for that play. But Morris also did **** up one or two of those screens with inaccurate passes as well.

We had tackles playing guard. We haven't had a true guard since B Wash

Duke had 4 receptions for 77 yards the whole year. He caught a pass and broke it for a big gain in the first game of the year. My question is, is this a result of Morris not being a smart QB or is it the offense that Coley runs. I know the season is over, and someone probably brought this up before. But I really want to know what in the **** happened.

We don't throw a lot of RB screens to begin with, but Morris also seemed to refuse to throw to the back when he had the chance. I still remember one glaring example where Duke was wide open about 4 yards downfield with no one in front of him, looking at Morris, ready for the ball, and Morris instead scrambled towards the sideline and then forced a low, outside throw to a tightly covered Hurns. That was typical Morris.

Worst thing Coley did all year. And what is even more ridiculous is the very next drive after Duke was injured we ran two screens to Dallas Crawford. No idea wtf he was thinking by not throwing it to Duke.

Seemed like every time Duke had to chip a pass rusher before heading out to the flat and would get his bell rung.
He would go low and take a knee to the dome.

I'd love to see Duke running wheels but I'd make sure he doesn't go for DE's knees.
Seemed like opposing teams were purposely going for his head after the 1st concussion.

He was pass blocking a lot...

I am not sure any DE would willing like to use his knee to hit a helmet -- not good odds on outcome for either players.

An OC can call a play but the QB needs to execute. The routes are there and the players are open but it is up to the QB to deliver the ball.

Players weren't that open very often and the routes were less than desirable unless you like to see 3 receivers running streaks all day. Yes Morris missed guys and made poor choices, but Coley did not do him many favors with the playcalling.

it son the oc....

It was painfully obvious when duke went down...Crawford played alot in the slot during spring for us and showed he can run routes and catch the ball...coley threw NO screens to the kid or utilized it at all...

Duke is a mismatch and the only time we ran those plays were against FAU??

i cant blame morris all too much those plays arent in coley's ****nal.

We have legit pass catching threats @ rb and dont use them...i was mad all year about it....

from uf game i was calling for screens as their dline was all getting upfield as fast as they could.

Evidently passing to Duke was not one of the three plays Coley ran 100% of the time in 90% of the games. :)

Screen weren't called this season. That's entirely on Coley.

We ran plenty of screens last year with Fisch. They were virtually non-existent with Coley.

Not to mention getting our RBs involved in the passing game more creatively by motioning them out of the backfield.

I think Morris should shoulder more of the blame here. If he was good at looking at check down receivers than the TE's would've had more balls thrown their way. But Coley didn't go to the screen game as much as he should have. Even when Coley would call a couple screens Morris would find a way to ***** it up. Like the pick off of Henderson's helmet against UNC. Or the rush would come at him and he'd get cold feet.

How can the blame be on Morris, wasn't he the QB in 2012? All on Coley. I mean Morris was horrible, but I don't put that on him. Hopefully Morris wasn't horrible because Fisch left and Coley took over.
