hopefully events like this make some headway in strengthening relationships with area coaches.

Great to see he is reaching out, but I thought we were already doing stuff like this. I remember a while back when one area coach mentioned that Golden had kept in touch when that coach was out of work and did a great job maintaining local relationships.

I was obviously surprised when Pete mentioned that Golden was not viewed favorably down here since it seemed like he had been getting a lot of good press for how diligently the staff canvased the local high schools compared with the two previous regimes.

Regardless, it doesn't seem like this can hurt and it is one of several signs that Golden is adapting his recruiting. He has me baffled because he genuinely seems like a good executive who tries to measure, evaluate and then manage based on analysis, but there are also glaring exceptions to that conclusion.

I believe he enlists the help of area coaches when he runs his camps over the spring/summer - he's always stated that he wants to be a resource for S. Florida coaches.

I really think Al was in WAAAYY over his head when it came to the local recruiting scene coming from the northeast. It took 3 years of cloud plus a few swift kicks in the *** for him to realize the dynamic of recruit & HS coach down in SoFla. I honestly hope he pulls Rumph, Chad Wilson, and any other alumni on local staffs into a small conference and grinds that ****** axe till it cuts through their issues like hot butter.

That picture is little but in the middle it says "proceeds to benefit Larry Bluestein".

Also this clinic is a joint conference with: Dolphins, FAU, FIU and UM.

I would be interested to know how big his administrative (non-coaching) staff is compared to our competition. My guess would be that part of his failure is lack of understanding but also a bigger part than some imagine is that he simply has limited capacity. I can bash the guy for a number of things, but there is no indication that he is not one of the hardest working coaches in a very hard-working profession. I would hypothesize that a lot more task based responsibilities fall on our coaching staff (i.e., coordinating events) than on someone like Saban, who probably has an army of administrators who can execute his strategic vision.

This is great to see.

Hopefully Al now has a full grasp of the SoFla recruiting games.

Time to play them better than anyone else out there.

Well, crap.

I was hoping Pete Carroll was coming and bringing his coaching staff to teach this one how to actually coach, especially on game day.

I agree, and I really hope the Blake James realizes the benefit to investing in a larger staff for exactly that reason.

Hoping to work with local coaches to start a pipeline of defensive ends that can cover slot receivers.

/In all seriousness, this is a worthwhile event and hopefully helps get Blue what he needs.
