Coaching Carousel Predictions

Baylor is much better job than Oregon, especially in terms of recruiting...

Oregon wasn't even that great of a job when Chip was there, he just made it look good.

I know, I know... Facilities, Uni's & Phil Knight... Got it.

But, even during Chip Kelly's reign he wasn't pulling down tons of elite recruits, he loaded up on Nor Cal kids & had a lock on most West Coast Polynesian kids...

Now that programs like Washington, Utah, Colorado & Wash St are having more success Oregon isn't as enticing to those West coast recruits as it used to be.

****, even Bama is starting to snatch kids up from Cali & with USC finally getting back on track, Oregon is going to take a back seat for a while in that recruiting ground... Oregon can't function as a program without Cali as it's recruiting base.

Once they lost to Oh St & Mariota went to the draft, that basically set their program back for a few years.

Yep. And top teams have caught up with that hurry up spread. Oregon also took advantage of USC's heavy sanctions and coaching tumult.

I think Kiffin would be stupid to take the Houston job. He's an X & O technician with a laid back introverted personality. Taking over a team that excelled partly because they had a rah rah super motivator as coach could be disaster. He's already experienced that with replacing Pete Carroll

Herman is a motivator but quit making him out to be PJ Fleck. UH also has a stud QB transfer in Kyle Allen eligible to play in 2017 so he will have plenty to work with.

Although I'm not buying the PJ Fleck hype, I think he can land a better job than Cincy. I think he should stay one more year at Western Michigan

If he's leaving for another job, NO WAY should he stay another year. He has limited resources at WMU, and he won't have another season like this for a while, if ever. If he wants to stay and build something, that's different. If he somehow beats Wisky, he will suddenly become the coach du jour and will have much bigger jobs open up to him.

It'd still be a bad fit for Monte's son. He'd have no new appeal as being "young" since Herman is the same age and he'd be taking over a program where the previous guy overperformed. I'm not a believer in Kiffin at all but he's best suited to replace an older coach that was floundering like Tuberville in Cincy and then try to get a real Power 5 job after that.

Sort of agree, except at 13-0, he should seize the opportunity now. If he stays, he risks going 8-5, and that won't buy him much.

Look how that worked out for Herman... still landed THE best job in college football and loss to SMU!! Are you kidding??? If people think Fleck a good coach they will hire him...period

Houston's a tough spot to go because it's going to be nearly impossible to do better there than Herman did. So if you go there and win 9 or 10 games people will think you're failing.

Fleck would be a good fit at Houston.

Kiffins waiting for a p5 hc position.

I don't know if Harsin is a good coach or not but good luck selling a guy with like 1 win vs ranked opponents at Boise to an antsy fanbase that was tricked into thinking they'd always be relevant "cause Nike".

I'm shocked that will all those great facilities Oregon is not undefeated. Isn't that what we've always heard, Miami is struggling because of subpar facilities???

Duh. That and the lack of 4,163 uni combinations. That aside, I really think Oregon is the type of program where you absolutely have to keep it on track or it becomes almost impossible to return to glory. The geographical limitations are so bad that a few years of bad recruiting are almost too hard to reverse.....even with waterfalls or whatever in your shiny facilities. Not to mention that their patriarch in Phil Knight is now pushing 80 yrs of age.

Oregon was a temporary blur in CFB history that hit a jackpot in Chip Kelly. It was pretty much inevitable they'd fall back to mediocrity once Chip left.

Herman only went 9-3 this year. They lost to Navy, SMU and Memphis.

Between Briles, Sumlin and Herman, they've had a few tough acts to follow in recent years. Tony Levine got chewed up and spit out pretty fast for not getting 10 wins.

Leach to oregon

Nobody but WSU is willing to hire Leach.

Due to his player abuse he is only slightly less toxic than Art Briles and Butch Davis.

The mentioning of Schiano alone for their opening would probably preclude any interest in Leach. Or maybe those zany ba$tards have no idea in which direction and style they want to go. Kinda like their uniforms.

Oregon will be a tough job for whoever gets it. The team is not stocked, and after 7 years of:

10-3
10-3
12-1
12-2
12-1
11-2
13-2

and 2 national title appearances, fan expectations are outrageous.

Keep an eye on Lincoln Riley at Houston. He is OC at OU.
Word is he killed interview and is now the leader in the clubhouse
