But yet Saban and his practically unlimited budget pulls his DC from UTSA?

Yep. Just like Oregon pulled Chip Kelly out of New Hampshire to be OC and Oklahoma pulled Riley out of ECU. Golding, Riley and Kelly were YOUNG, up and coming hotshot coaches that were identified early as having the highest of potential and were brought to the main stage quickly. Just like Kelly and Riley, Golding will be a HC very soon.

Likens, who again, I think is a good coach, is who he is. A coach in his mid-50's who has been around the block. His ceiling is identified. Let's put it this way... when Manny was fired, did you see Power-5 schools lining up to hire Likens? No. Did you hear his name connected with any major program? No. His market value right now is SMU, a non-major. The market has spoken.

I wish him well. ****, SMU is going to be a program I root for now. Lashlee, Likens and Justice are good guys and solid coaches who worked hard and were well liked here. But you don't beat Alabama and Clemson with "good and solid."

I think it’s unrealistic. How many first round receivers has UM had in it‘s history? I think it’s Irvin, Eddie Brown, Randall Hill, Yatil Green, Santana, Wayne, and Andre Johnson. So that’s only seven for a program that has won five championships and played for many more over a 40 year period.
Dorsett was a 1st rounder as well

You talk a lot about his resume being lackluster, but all I see is him putting a plethora of guys in the league, including multiple first rounders.

The coaching industry is very buddy-buddy, if you catch my drift. You have elite coaches working at smaller schools and below-average coaches working at big schools. Where you are employed is not necessarily the best indicator of one’s coaching ability.

I’m not arguing that Likens is “elite,” but he’s the best WR coach we’ve had in years, and the players loved/respected him. McClendon will have big shoes to fill.

Small world. One of my good friends is close with that entire family as well. Believe that he was in both Taylor and one of the other brothers weddings as well.
Taylor was in my cousin wedding as well at Pinehurst NC. Yes it is a small world would be funny if we raised a glass at that wedding together.

I didn't like their speration speed. Bronson was UGA and um and UGA isn't the greatest at evaluating wrs. George same I didn't like their play making ability at this level. In HS yeah most kids make plays but transitioning them to D1 they weren't for me. I want guys like Moore Cooper Ridley Moss Jones Waddle etc. I want electric type wrs that if they touch it anything can happen. I want opposing coaches game planning for our wrs.
I think now that Rambo is gone. This other cats will have a better opportunity to step up and make the type of plays you're looking for.

I'm glad you agree that Likens is not elite. Fortunately, McClendon is. I hope he's 100% coming.
