ACC has three contenders for the CFP Playoffs right now. The ACC Champion gets an automatic bye. If Clemson doesn’t make the ACC Championship game but beats South Carolina next weekend, they might be in. The loser of an ACC Championship game with UM (11-1) v. SMU (11-1) might also be in.

Not playing in the ACCCG might get Clemson into the playoff.

I can make a pretty strong argument that the ACC runner up gets left out for (insert generic SEC team).

But.. Can the ACC get 3 teams in?

The conference champ gets in.

If #12 Clemson beats #14 USCe, that might be enough to move them past Boise and Indiana to #10. If they're sitting at 10, they're probably getting in.

Does the runner up get punished for playing in the ACCCG or would they still get in?

Because if they're not, the committee would have to put 3 ACC teams in.
