Coach Speak: Richt, Brown talk LSU loss, moving forward

Well. This wasn't super encouraging. I hope it doesn't mean that it has to get a little worse before it gets better. I'm not on the self-pity train yet, but it is a little difficult to not start thinking of this season as just a wash before we actually do something next year... which sucks given how much of our talent is going to leave at the end of this season...

Thay are 5 seconds away from losing the fans and everything that was gained last year. Its just not possible that they don't see how bad Rozy is ****ting the bed on a regular basis.

I wonder if CIS is indicative of our fan base as a whole or just the vocal majority that never go to games/support the program and like to sit around and talk tough on the internet. If it's the former we are ****ed and will never get close to our glory days again. Our "fans" won't allow it.

Feagles has thin skin. One potential block screws his mind up on the next two. Got to have a short memory when playing sports.

"Certain things happen, you discipline … a lot of different things you use as discipline," Richt said. "One is playing time. … But since that time he has done a great job and I’m pleased. I’m sorry that he couldn’t be there and possibly play or be ready to play or miss the experience of going to Dallas. Discipline is designed to change behavior for the better.”

so what you're saying is you wanted to play Perry? but then you say you weren't thinking about a QB change cause we got back into the game. kinda confused on that one

Folks are frustrated and rightfully so. It's 4 in a row now.

A lot of the complaining is baseless tho. Dudes complaining about a guy who coached one game (Simpson), a guy who turned down $ from UGA (HArtley), or complaining bout Richt's interviews like that's important.

Richt just needs to do his job and get to winning some football games. We be fine.

From my perspective it's not indicative. Most fans I know have no idea this place even exists or care for that matter. And while everyone is disappointed most are smart enough to know that it was going to be a tough game win or lose. When you pay attention to some of the topics you have the same group repeating the same thing over and over and over which IMO skews the narrative.

I'm very disappointed, but it's not going to keep me from going Saturday and being a fan the rest of the season, everything in proper perspective.

That's a really bad take on what he said, re-read it. He simply stated that the discipline prevented him from having any chance to do any of those things.

CIS is indicative of a discrepancy in the goals and desires between the University and its football fans. They are not one and the same at Miami, unlike programs like Bama, Clemson etc. The fans expect excellence, as was tradition 15 years ago. The University seems ok with mediocrity, as evidenced by their actions the last 15 years.

The differing expectations create conflict.

Did you watch the game man? Did you miss that part when we were down 30 points at the beginning of the 4th quarter, 0-7 in 3rd down conversion in the 1st half, 11 penalties for 85yds which was more than the total amount of rush yards we had as a team.

Our QB was 43% passer with 2INT's one of which was a pick 6 & our Defense gave up 156yds rushing while not recording a single sack the entire game.

So tell me Super-Fan what exactly should we be happy about after that performance? The fans have been ripping the coaches because we got embarrassed by LSU, just like we got embarrassed last year by Pitt & Clemson, and people are seeing a pattern here.

Just because you're a blind homer don't get mad at the rest of us for not burying our head in the sand like you. This staff has a lot to prove this season & if they don't change things they'll be in dogfights for a bunch of games, because when you play as poorly as we did games that used to be gimmes now become a question mark.

I'm hopeful we turn it around & win the rest of our games, but I'm not going to sit here & act like everything is perfectly fine & nothing needs to improve. Go read Stephan's & DMoney's post game recap about what they had to say on the game & moving forward, since we're all just bad fans who hate the team & won't allow them to win.

I agree. People calling the coaches liars and such don’t seem to get that the coaches will never and should never attack any of the students
athletes publicly... Just would send the wrong vibe entirely.

Even Saban refuses to say anything negative about his kids.

It’s a wait and see game. Actions will speak louder than anything they have to say. Malik will probably still trot out as starter the next few games, play a quarter or two, then be relieved of by the second and third string.

What I’m concerned about is the coaching staff believing that the first game was a one off, when we have a year of visual evidence that it isn’t.

I think Malik will start the game against FSU, and as bad as their team looked Monday, their defense is still really good. I hope Richt and Malik are ready.

Nobody is saying they are "liars"...

I'm not even saying I want him to throw individual players under the bus.

I simply want him to identify garbage and correct it in the next game. At the QB position (no names) he has not done that in 4 straight attempts. Of course it is not "just the QB"...but the QB doesn't have "it" when the surrounding cast does their job.

As to F$U, Willie is attempting to run his offense with Jimbo's personnel. What's our excuse in year 3?

Willie will likely improve a little as the year goes on...but will Mark be any less hard headed?

I Iike to read these interview write ups,but they’re useless. These guys are all very polished in the art of talking a lot but saying nothing.

I’m sick of all this talk about practice and which guys are booming punts or knowing the offense in front of no one. Actual football is played in front of throngs of passionate people and against opponents who are trying to decapitate you and are throwing things at you that you haven’t practiced against.

Practice is great, and I’m all for building great men and all that. But you can’t get so hyper focused on practice and off field stuff that you keep trotting our guys like Rosier and Knowles to the obvious detriment of building a winning program.

Do any of you guys think that a guy like Manziel ever would have taken a snap here under Rick? I don’t. Yet he was transcendent as a college player. Lamar Jackson would have either been moved to WR or would have transferred. In the event he did play QB he would have been robotized and scolded for not playing within the system.

Mark Richt got fired at UGA for not changing. Miami gave him the keys to the Campus. He is acting like he is obsessed with trying to continue using his system to prove to folks that fired him that his system works. Not benching Rosier is showing this exactly.

Absolutely agree with this. It's important to value and incentivize practice performance, as you want to make sure that the players are doing all that they can to improve themselves and their teammates. During the offseason, this is especially true, since practices are the only way to evaluate player performance, both individually and against others. However, once the games start, the game performance has to be given more weight than the practice performance for the reasons you stated.

No matter how well a guy practices, if when the lights come on, he is not getting it done, then the next guys have to be given a chance to see if they can step it up in a game environment. And, while it is harder to evaluate guys who have never played in a game before on how they will perform, for the guys that have been in game action, whether in a prior season or at a prior school, those prior experiences have to be in our coaches' mind when watching a guy perform this season. Rosier's inaccuracy, Feagles shanks, Knowles mistakes leading to big plays, all those things have shown themselves in game action already. They all had a chance to show in a game what they apparently have done to improve during the offseason, but the offseason of practicing, coaching, improving, etc., clearly didn't fix those problems, and our coaches can't ignore those failings because of what they've seen on the practice field. It should be clear that at this point, those guys shortcomings in game action are going to show themselves in the future like they have in the past. Now, it's time to allow other guys a chance to see if they can do better.

Feagles must learn meditation. He has the tools but overly feels the expectations. I think theyll dial him in. When is the question
